The 48-year-old singer and actress shared details about her early romance with Rodriguez in a joint interview with the 42-year-old retired MLB player for the December issue of Vanity Fair.

The "World of Dance" judge told the magazine she and Rodriguez had their first date over dinner at the Hotel Bel Air in Los Angeles, Calif., in January after reconnecting at a restaurant in Beverly Hills.

The pair had first met 12 years prior at a baseball game.

"He was sitting there in his white shirt, very confident and manly, but then he was just so talkative!" Lopez recounted of their date.

"So he's talking, talking about his plans, about how he had just retired from baseball, about how he saw himself getting married again, all these things you wouldn't normally talk about on a first date."

"I don't know if he thought it was a date. I thought it was a date," she said. "Then I knew he was nervous because he asked me if I wanted a drink. I said, 'No, I don't drink,' and he asked if I minded if he had one. He was nervous, and it was really cute."

Rodriguez confessed he was indeed "uneasy" because he "didn't know if it was a date." He eventually got the courage to flirt with Lopez after the "Shades of Blue" star told him she was single.

"I had to get up and go re-adjust my thoughts. I went to the bathroom and got enough courage to send her a text," the former New York Yankees player recalled.

"So I'm sitting there and he's walking back, and I get a text," Lopez confirmed. "It says... 'You look sexy AF.' And then it took a turn. The fire alarm went off, and we had to evacuate. No, really. The fire alarm went off!"

Lopez and Rodriguez, who described himself and the singer "as very much twins," immediately bonded over their shared backgrounds and interests.

The retired MLB star confirmed their relationship in March, telling "The View" that Lopez is "an amazing, amazing girl."
