Storm Chasers will continue to follow IMAX filmmaker Sean Casey as he attempts to go inside tornadoes to gather never-recorded scientific data and video footage using his self-designed and self-built "Tornado Intercept Vehicle."

While Casey was paired with research meteorologist Josh Wurman for the show's first two seasons, he now finds himself working with a new team of young, eager and inexperienced trackers in an effort to film inside an actual tornado.

Meteorologist Reed Timmer and his team will also return for the show's third season with their newly armored "The Dominator" tornado-chase vehicle -- as they continue to race Casey to be the first crew on scene before a twister even touches down.

However it will apparently be difficult, as personal conflicts between Timmer and his chase buddies Joel and Chris come to the surface, according to the network.

Also joining Storm Chasers for its third season will be veteran researcher and storm chaser Tim Samaras -- whose steady leadership qualities are a stark contrast to Casey and Timmer's teams.

"Storm Chasers has become appointment television with astonishing footage, terrifying excitement and unforgettable characters," said Discover Channel president John Ford.

Storm Chasers is produced for Discovery Channel by Original Media.
