Bringing Up Bates alum Katie Bates has spoken out about her husband Travis Clark and the future of their relationship after he confessed to infidelity.

Travis posted a statement via Instagram Stories on January 17 admitting he had cheated on his wife and caused "damage" to his family, and now Katie is addressing the scandal.

"This is not how I imagined beginning this year or this new season of our lives," Katie, 25, wrote on Instagram on Monday, January 19, three days after she announced she had a miscarriage with the couple's third child.

"This has been an incredibly painful time for me and for our family. As many now know, our marriage has been deeply hurt and my trust has been broken."

Katie said she's trying to take life "one day at a time" at this point.

"[I am] focusing on what matters most: our children, their future, and my own healing," Katie wrote.

Katie and Travis, 24, share Hailey, 2, and Harvey, 15 months.

"After privately expressing deep regret and sorrow for his actions, Travis told me he felt it was important to publicly take accountability for what he has done, and I support his decision and desire for transparency," Katie explained.

"We are working through this privately, seeking counsel both together and individually as we try to determine the best path forward for our family."

Katie revealed that she is also being "supported by legal counsel."

"This is not a quick or easy process, and it is not one I am taking lightly," she continued.

Katie went on to reveal that she has no plan of leaving or divorcing her husband any time soon.

"Every decision about our future will be made slowly and carefully, with what is best for our family and our children as the highest priority," Katie explained.

"At the same time, I do believe in God's power to restore, and my heart's desire is to preserve our marriage."

Katie acknowledged how this situation is "deeply personal," and she added, "There is still so much to work through."

Katie proceeded to "sincerely ask" fans for privacy.

"I also ask for your understanding that I may not be able to receive or respond to advice or opinions, even when they are well-intended," Katie wrote.

While Katie admitted she "delayed" returning to social media for as long as she possibly could in the wake of Travis' affair, social media is a part of her work.

"There are prior commitments I am unable to cancel," she noted.

"I realize that life has to go on even through hardships and difficult situations, and I appreciate your grace and understanding during this time."

Katie also thanked family and friends for their "love, prayers, and support" during this challenging time.

"Again, thank you for your continued prayers, kindness and compassion. 'Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee.' Psalm 55:22," she concluded.

Two days earlier, Travis publicly confessed that he was unfaithful to his wife of four years.

"This is hard to write, but I owe the truth and I owe an apology. I was unfaithful to my wife," Travis wrote in a statement.

"I had an affair and repeatedly broke her trust. There is no excuse for what I did. This was my failure and my responsibility alone."

Travis added, "I know that words don't begin to express the damage I caused or the depth of the hurt I've brought into her life, but I am truly sorry."

Katie and Travis got engaged in April 2021 and then married in December of that year.

"I'm sorry for the pain, humiliation and betrayal I caused my wife through my choices," Travis continued in his post.

"I understand that an apology doesn't repair what I broke, and forgiveness is not something I deserve or can ask for."

The nursing student said he is "taking responsibility" for his actions.

"[I am] getting help and doing the work to change and become a more honest and accountable man, regardless of [the] outcome," he insisted.

"I ask for privacy and grace for Katie as she processes this in her own time."

Hours before Travis took to social media with his post, Katie had revealed that she suffered a miscarriage.

"I will spend the rest of my life missing you," Katie wrote on Friday, January 17.

Katie's upload included footage of the moment she found out she was expecting. After Katie showed Travis a positive at-home pregnancy test, she cradled her baby bump with joy when looking in a mirror.

Footage then flashed to Katie crying in a hospital room before she hugged one of her kids for support.

Bringing Up Bates, which featured Katie and her 18 siblings, premiered in January 2015 and aired its tenth season in 2021.

After the tenth season wrapped in June 2021, Up TV announced the show's cancellation in January 2022.
