Blake Shelton is anticipating some Miranda Lambert jokes at this year's Country Music Association Awards since they'll be in the same room as new divorcees, but at least he'll be in on the joke.

During a Tuesday appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Voice coach, 39, admitted he's prepared for co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood to poke fun at his relationship with Lambert, 31, at the CMA Awards on Wednesday, November 4.

"This year is going to be awkward at the CMAs, speaking of jokes. [Country music] is such a family. Everybody there is friends, you know? There's gotta be a joke about me and Miranda. [Co-host] Brad Paisley is not doing his job if he doesn't look down there and go, 'Haha!' I mean, he's gotta do it," Shelton told Meyers.

"You have to address the elephant in the room. We've had the conversations, like, 'Okay, dude, I will go sit there and let you kick me in the face a few times.' I know it's coming, you know."

A close friend of Shelton's told People earlier this month no one should mistake his humor for a lack of caring.

"Clearly [Blake] was upset during the breakup, but he's not someone to sit around and lick his wounds," the friend said. "He's about moving forward and not looking in the rearview mirror."

Shelton recently echoed that sentiment when speaking with CMT, according to People.

"I'm in a good place. I wasn't, but I am now. It's amazing how quickly life can turn around for you. I've had some pretty cool things in recent times that have happened, and I'm loving it," Shelton explained.

During his Late Night appearance, Shelton also laughed about his dynamic with Rihanna on The Voice, as she's currently serving as the contestants' key advisor for the "Knockout Round."

"She's such a smart ass," Shelton quipped.

"I'm like, 'Oh my God, I'm totally going to push this girl around with my crazy wit.' I never could get the upper hand with her. The only thing I could embarrass her about a little bit was... because I was trying to get her to be flirty, a little bit. I mean, why not? I mean, I'm a perfect match for Rihanna."

"I was coming up with our couple name," Shelton continued. "Blihanna was one of them. I tried Rake."

Shelton and Lambert, a former Nashville Star finalist, recently finalized their divorce after nine years together and four years of marriage. They wed in May 2011 after six years of dating.

The Voice's ninth season currently airs Monday nights at 8PM ET/PT and Tuesday nights at 9PM ET/PT on NBC.
