Bachelor in Paradise featured Derek Peth quitting the show after Tayshia Adams dumped him, John Paul Jones hurting and pissing off Haley Ferguson, and Angela Amezcua stirring up drama with her arrival on the beach during Monday night's Season 6 episode on ABC.

"It just seems like when I finally click with somebody, they run away. All I want is for somebody to reciprocate when I start to care. It just hurts," Derek said after quitting the show.

"I wasn't ready to go home right now, but it's time for me to leave. I always thought I would've found somebody by now, without a doubt, but what I worry about now -- as time moves on -- is that I'm never going to find my person. That's what my biggest fear is."

The Bachelor in Paradise broadcast began with Nicole Lopez-Alvar gushing about how Clay Harbor made her feel wonderful, sexy and proud. She was so happy in her relationship, but then Angela Amezcua arrived in Paradise.

Nicole said Angela showing up to the beach was her "biggest fear personified" and her heart dropped into the pit of her stomach at the sight of Clay's ex-girlfriend.

Clay's face told Nicole he was "shooken up" by Angela's entrance although he claimed to no longer have feelings for her. Nicole worried Angela might get in the way of the strong relationship she had spent the whole season building with Clay.

Clay didn't understand why Angela would want to date someone in front of him and watch him date another girl. Clay was also rubbed the wrong way by Angela's appearance in Paradise given all the guys -- Angela's dating options -- had become his good friends.

Haley Ferguson admitted Angela being around was "awkward," and Mike Johnson pointed out Clay probably had "World War III" going through his mind.

Nicole didn't think there was a shot Angela was over Clay, and she called Angela an "intruder."

"Angela, get a life. He dumped you. He doesn't want you. Clay is way too good of a man to lose, and I am so ready to fight for this relationship," Nicole said in a confessional.

Nicole therefore pulled Angela aside for a chat on the beach. Nicole told Angela that she was Clay's "girlfriend" and he was her "man." She told Angela that they wouldn't have a problem as long as Angela stayed away from Clay, and Angela promised she didn't show up to Paradise to stir up some drama.

Angela thought since it was okay for Clay to be in Paradise, it should be okay for her to date in Paradise as well and there should be no double standard. Angela knew Clay still had feelings for her, but she was apparently ready to move on from her past.

Tayshia Adams, however, told the cameras Clay was not available because he was still clearly "emotionally invested" in his previous relationship with Angela.

Tayshia then confronted Clay and made him feel guilty for not introducing Nicole as his girlfriend to Angela and everyone at the wedding. Clay insisted he was just swept up in the moment and it wasn't intentional, but Tayshia admitted he didn't seem ready for another serious relationship after Angela.

Clay, however, promised he was ready and felt great about Nicole being his girlfriend during and after the show.

Angela was then shown going on a date with Mike, who asked about her serious eight-month relationship with Clay. Angela said she'd always care about Clay as a person because they had "talked about babies and houses" when they were together and it was "the hardest breakup" of her life.

Mike told Angela that Clay said moving on in Paradise was easier for him because he had never told her that he loved her.

Viewers didn't see Angela's reaction, however, because footage switched to Clay complaining Angela was going to be dating his friends after recently saying she wanted him back.

Blake also told the cameras Angela would "easily undermine" Clay and Nicole's relationship because he still cared about her a lot and was seemingly hurting inside. Blake anticipated Clay would have a difficult time in Paradise going forward.

That night, Angela and Mike shared a steamy kiss on their date.

The next day, Tayshia was stuck in a love triangle between Derek and John Paul, whom Haley also had "a big fat crush on."

Haley loved how John Paul was funny, smart, serious, and intelligent. She thought they'd be a great match and her family would love him. Haley even went as far as to say she could envision herself falling in love with John Paul.

But John Paul was still very much hung up on Tayshia. He said he had "very strong feelings" for Tayshia, but up to this point, John Paul apparently led Haley to believe she'd be getting his next rose. John Paul had yet to talk to Haley about where he stood.

Meanwhile, John Paul was still blowing steam over the fact Derek was also trying to pursue Tayshia.

"Derek is a creep. He is a fraternity brother who is in this to take advantage of women. That is a fact. I don't have a lot of evidence to substantiate that point, but listen, I know frauds when I see them, and Derek is a fraud. That is a fact," John Paul vented in a confessional.

Derek then sat down with Haley and let her know that John Paul was "really into" Tayshia. Haley was shocked to learn this news, especially because she was hearing it from Derek instead of John Paul himself.

Haley had apparently talked to Tayshia, who insisted nothing was going on between John Paul and herself, earlier on, so Haley didn't know what to do. She felt "uncomfortable," "confused," pissed off and more.

Haley didn't want to be strung along or treated like a backup plan or "Plan B," so she decided to confront John Paul about his intentions. When Haley asked John Paul about his alleged feelings for Tayshia, he said he owed her an apology.

While John Paul said he loved how goofy, fun and smart Haley was, he felt a loyalty to Tayshia. Despite his chemistry with Haley, John Paul had clearly made his decision, and so he told Haley to find what she was looking for in Paradise -- but it clearly wouldn't be him.

Haley then broke down into tears, saying in a confessional she had no clarity and didn't understand the situation. Haley knew she had a rose to hand out at the end of the week, but she didn't know which guy was going to receive it.

Haley complained about how dating was so hard and she didn't understand why men didn't want to be with her when all they did was compliment how great she is.

Meanwhile, Caelynn Miller-Keyes was really hitting it off with Connor Saeli, and the other established couples in Paradise were Hannah Godwin and Dylan Barbour, Demi Burnett and Kristian Haggerty, Chris Bukowski and Katie Morton.

Haley later had an awkward conversation with John Paul about why he never opened up about Tayshia earlier and had been stringing her along, and John Paul admitted Tayshia had advised him "to test the waters" before her arrival, which resulted in him accepting Haley's date invitation.

John Paul said he "dropped the ball on communicating," and then Haley -- who appeared to be hurt and offended -- called him "selfish." John Paul told Haley to be "a big girl" and explore her options on the show.

Haley told the cameras John Paul was "being a d-ck" and she unfortunately just felt "like a pawn in John Paul's little Tayshia game." Haley cried to Blake, saying she felt like "an idiot" for even thinking she had a strong connection with John Paul.

"Why do men think they can manipulate women for fun? Why do they think they can do this? They literally torment us," Haley cried to Blake Horstmann. "It's not my fault. I am just so annoyed... Don't mess with me and my emotions!"

After Haley complained to Tayshia about John Paul, Tayshia realized John Paul was still young and slightly immature, so she didn't know what to do.

Another confrontation on the beach then went down between John Paul and Derek. John Paul told Derek that he wasn't the right guy for Tayshia and she had already decided that -- a statement which Derek completely denied.

"So you're making decisions for Tayshia now?" Derek asked John Paul, calling him out for "a super inappropriate conversation" at Chris Randone and Krystal Nielson's wedding.

Derek accused John Paul of fabricating information about him, and Tayshia watched the fight from a distance. She hated seeing the two men fight, but then John Paul suddenly burst into laughter saying it was "comical" Derek had accused him of spitting in his face.

Derek accused John Paul of orchestrating a love triangle with Haley and Tayshia, and John Paul just wanted nothing to do with him. Derek was apparently hoping to work things out between them, but John Paul had no intention of letting that happen.

Tayshia said John Paul and Derek were "acting like middle school children," and she considered moving on from both of them as a result. The fight made her feel sick to her stomach.

Suddenly, Matt Donald and Luke Stone from Hannah Brown's season of The Bachelorette arrived one at a time, and the girls agreed Matt was hot and sexy while Luke was "a poor man's [Nick Viall]."

Haley, Sydney Lotuaco and Kristina Schulman were all hoping for a date, as Sydney revealed her tight relationship with Mike had pretty much ended.

Tayshia and Haley told the cameras they'd love to go on a date with Matt, but in the end, Matt asked Sydney out and Luke asked Kristina out on a double date.

Kristina felt like Paradise was just starting for her, but Tayshia had been hoping for a fresh start as well.

After Demi gushed about being in love with Kristian and Blake commiserated about being alone, the newcomers' double date was shown. The two couples walked through a local market together, shopping and drinking.

Kristina found that Luke was a great conversationalist, but Luke was confused about Kristina because she didn't seem over Blake.

Sydney and Matt were hitting it off a little better on the date, but Matt refused to kiss Sydney in fear his mother would be watching Paradise back home and disapprove of him being so physical with women too early on.

"I think he's getting used to this experience, but hopefully in the future, I won't have to hold his hand through this whole process," Sydney told the cameras.

Matt admitted he was shy and just wanted to get to know Sydney better before kissing her. Matt, however, seemed to like Sydney and thought she was really sweet.

John Paul was then shown pulling Tayshia aside for a chat. John Paul got emotional because Tayshia seemed distant but he took their relationship very seriously. John Paul said he admired everything about Tayshia and wished he had communicated better about the whole Haley situation.

"I just wanted to let you know how strong my feelings are for you," John Paul said, before breaking down into tears.

"I was going to give you your space because I don't want to scare you away, but I came here for something serious and I just can't handle -- after the moments we shared together -- not being around you. It's just so hard."

John Paul believed in his heart that Tayshia was the woman whom he had been looking for and they shared something very special. He was so afraid he had messed things up by fighting with Derek, but Tayshia was apparently leaning towards being with John Paul over Derek.

Tayshia therefore asked Derek to talk. Tayshia said she wanted to make the most of her experience in Paradise and so she felt the need to be completely honest with herself and with Derek.

Tayshia said she had built a strong foundation for a friendship with Derek but she just couldn't envision the pair becoming a romantic couple and falling in love.

Derek didn't understand when Tayshia's feelings for him had changed, and so he wondered whether there was anything he could have done differently or better.

"It's just not the right timing. I don't know. I feel like I need to talk to you and tell you this now because I don't want to lead you on in any way... The last thing I'd ever want to do is hurt someone the way I've been hurt," Tayshia told Derek.

"I respect you and I appreciate you," she added. "I don't even really know what I want."

"But you're sure it's not me," Derek noted.

"I don't think I can get there," Tayshia said.

Derek admitted he was hurt, but Tayshia promised she had arrived at this decision on her own -- without any influence from John Paul. Tayshia didn't want to think their breakup had anything to do with John Paul because she thought Derek was "an incredible person."

Derek, once again, was tired of hearing he's a great guy while being dumped. There was no one else he was interested in getting to know in Paradise.

"There's no one else here. I already know that," Derek told Tayshia. "It's hard."

After apparently taking some time to think things over, Derek announced to the group as a whole he had decided to leave Paradise.

Derek thanked everyone for their friendship, saying he loved everybody in his or her own way, but he said it was time to leave.

A part of Demi felt guilty that she couldn't give Derek what he wanted because he had joined the Paradise cast to find love and his future partner. She said it broke her heart to see Derek so unhappy. Kristian even called Derek "a beautiful person" whom she respected.

But Tayshia and John Paul still had a lot of unresolved issues, and Nicole wondered whether John Paul would receive Tayshia's rose or she'd move on without him.

Tayshia couldn't help but second guess her decision once Derek left because he was such a great guy. She had no idea what she was going to do next, including whether John Paul was going to receive her rose at the next Rose Ceremony.
