American Idol host Ryan Seacrest declared Trent, a 25-year-old waiter from Amory, MS, the farewell season's winner last week after he received more home viewer votes following the final performance show than La'Porsha, a 22-year-old call representative from McComb, MS.

During a recent conference call with reporters, La'Porsha talked about her Idol experience and what's next for her. Below is a portion of what she had to say.

If you could've sang with anyone who was present at the Idol finale, who would it be? And what about if you had your pick of any famous singer?

La'Porsha Renae: I do like Carrie Underwood a lot. I'll go with her. And then all of my other people aren't here anymore, like Michael Jackson and Luther Vandross. I really don't know because it would probably be someone from back in the day. One of the soulful singers.

What's the one piece of advice you'll take from the judges and use moving forward in your career?

La'Porsha Renae: I'll take away how I learned a lot about how things work behind the scenes, but also the impact that I had on so many lives.

It's just, like, a humble reminder that no matter what you're going through or how you feel about yourself or even how you feel about your gift sometimes, there's always someone out there wanting to hear a sense of inspiration. So, I think that's what I took away from it most, is being able to touch people.

Are you exhausted?

La'Porsha Renae: That's an understatement. (Laughs)

La'Porsha, you signed with Big Machine and Motown Records. How does it feel to get that deal already?

La'Porsha Renae: Well, I was definitely excited about Motown. That's a record label that in my household, if you made it to that record label, it was golden. Lots of great legends came from that label. And I just hopefully wish to bring back some of that old-school soul music. So, I'm really excited.

Are you going to hit the ground running?

La'Porsha Renae: Yes, I definitely want to take the momentum from the show and use it to kind of jumpstart my career.

Are you hoping to bring about changes in your community?

La'Porsha Renae: I do plan on using my platform to definitely be active in my community, to bring about changes -- not just in my community but in other communities as well. I will join forces with a lot of people and try to get the message out there. We all just need to respect each other and get along and co-exist.
