The new tentatively-titled series, which is scheduled to premiere this fall and currently casting, will air eight episodes and feature the people and streets of South Boston, or Southie, as they "celebrate their friendships, battle their rivals and raise their children," according to the network.

Southie Pride will chronicle hard-working women of faith living in a blue-collar environment and also air footage of the town's reaction to the New England Patriots' tough loss against the New York Giants in the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Southie Pride is being produced by 495 Productions, the same production company behind MTV's Jersey Shore.

"Spend some time with the women of South Boston and you quickly learn that pride runs deep, family comes first, and that their friendships and rivalries are forever," 495 Productions president SallyAnn Salsano said in a statement. "And, their accents are wicked awesome."
