The Voice eliminated two artists and determined the fifth season's Top 8 finalists during Tuesday night's live results show on NBC.

The Voice host Carson Daly announced Austin Jenckes from Duvall, WA, and Kat Robichaud from Raleigh, NC, were ousted from the reality singing competition after being voted into the bottom three by home viewers after Monday night's performance show.

Jenckes was on coach Blake Shelton's team, and Robichaud represented Cee Lo Green's team.

Jenckes and Robichaud were joined in the bottom three by Caroline Pennell from Saddle River, NJ, who was also a member of Green's team.

Green admitted he was "biased" about his two artists and thought they were exceptional. Shelton argued his artist "lives and breathes music" and he was such a passionate vocalist. Shelton also took "full responsibility" for Jenckes bottom-three finish, as the coach probably played a big hand in Jenckes' song choice the night prior.

While Pennell didn't necessarily receive the most votes among the bottom-three members following Monday night's performance show, America saved her via the show's new "Instant Save" twist. The "Instant Save" allows home viewers to determine which member of each week's bottom three vote-getters will be saved from elimination.

Once the bottom-three results were revealed last night, America had a five-minute window to tweet the name of their favorite artist in jeopardy whom they wished to save in the competition. Pennell received the most tweets.

Unbiased coach Adam Levine guessed correctly in assuming home viewers might vote to advance Pennell over the other two artists.

The "Instant Save" will continue to be utilized this season during the next two result shows.

The remaining artists in The Voice competition are as follows: "Team Cee Lo" member Pennell; "Team Blake" members Cole Vosbury and Ray Boudreaux; "Team Adam" artists James Wolpert, Tessanne Chin, and Will Champlin; and coach Christina Aguilera's team members Jacquie Lee and Matthew Schuler.
