The CW announced it has ordered Fly Girls, a new docu-reality series that will follow five Virgin America airlines flight attendants.

Fly Girls' half-hour episodes will follow the flight attendants as they travel from their home base in Los Angeles to various locations across the country -- mixing business with pleasure as they deal with passenger problems while also pursuing a good time in different destinations.

"This show is about real, down-to-earth young women who happen to have landed in an exceptionally glamorous, high-flying career filled with exotic locations and handsome strangers," said The CW programming executive Kristen Vadas.

"We're thrilled to be working with Virgin America for this unique peek into a whirlwind lifestyle that shows how tough it is to be grounded when you work 35,000 feet in the air."

The eight-episode series is currently slated to air as midseason programming and is being produced by Collins Avenue Productions, with Jeff Collins and Colin Nash serving as executive producers.

Fly Girls is the second half-hour docu-reality series The CW has scheduled for its midseason slate.

Earlier this year, the network announced that it would air Blonde Charity Mafia -- a half-hour docu-reality series starring several young Washington, D.C. socialites -- as part of its summer programming schedule, but later decided to delay the show until midseason so it could reportedly receive more promotion.

The CW picked up Blonde Charity Mafia after it was dropped by Lifetime, which had originally planned to pair it with new sixth-season episodes of Project Runway last fall.

However Runway's sixth season ended up being delayed nearly a year due to legal battles, resulting in Lifetime -- which had ordered Mafia in August 2008 -- shuffling some of its programming slate and dropping the series.
