The Biggest Loser ninth-season contestant Sam Poueu is reportedly in critical condition after falling several stories from a building.

Poueu sustained a pelvic injury, punctured lung, broken leg, and torn ligaments during the September 3 accident and is recovering in the ICU at a San Francisco hospital, TMZ reported Thursday.

Details regarding Poueu's fall have yet to be disclosed, but according to TMZ, he can recognize visitors and is progressively getting better.

"Sam Poueu is making great improvements everyday! God is answering our prayers and Sam is fighting! Please keep the prayers coming," fellow ninth-season contestant Ashley Johnston wrote on her Facebook Fan Page on Wednesday.

"He is still in critical condition, but is fighting like hell and is impressing the Doctors like he impressed all of us on The Biggest Loser!"

Poueu's cousin Koli Palu also posted a similar message on his Facebook earlier this week, suggesting Stephanie Anderson -- whom Poueu got engaged to last fall after they met while competing on the ninth edition of the NBC reality weight-loss competition, which aired in early 2010 -- has been by Poueu's side.

"Sam Poueu has made serious improvement in the last few hours. He has become very responsive to Stephanie Anderson and his Mother, squeezing their hands and kicking his feet. The head trauma has pretty much stabilized. He still has a long way to go but thank you so much for your love and prayers," Palu, who competed with Poueu on The Biggest Loser," he wrote.

Poueu finished as the ninth season's fifth runner-up. After beginning the competition at 372 pounds, he shed 142 and weighed-in at 230 pounds during the season's finale weigh-in.
