The Bachelorette bachelor Jed Wyatt is finally speaking on allegations he had a girlfriend back home when he went on The Bachelorette to pursue Hannah Brown and left for the show planning to continue his relationship with the woman when he returned home.

Jed, a 25-year-old singer and songwriter from Nashville, broke his silence Monday on Instagram after apparently receiving an overwhelming amount of backlash on social media from angry The Bachelorette viewers.

While Jed said he was unable to directly address the controversy about Haley Stevens -- the woman who had come forward claiming Jed was her boyfriend when he was competing for Hannah's heart-- he insisted his truth will be revealed soon.

"I ask that you please understand how much the actions being taken towards myself, my family, the men on the show, and above all, Hannah, are affecting all of our mental and physical health," Jed captioned a selfie on Instagram that also featured his mother, father and sister.

"It goes beyond what is said online. Threatening letters and phone calls have been sent to our homes. My parents and sister are being verbally attacked in public."

Jed went on to beg those critics to stop their threats and hurtful messages.

"I beg you to remember what seems like a harmless action is damaging to real people," Jed continued in his statement.

"I want to thank all of you who have reached out or reserved judgement until I am able to speak openly and I can only ask for your patience and kindness until then."

Jed, one of Hannah's four remaining bachelors heading into Fantasy Suite dates, was shown admitting to Hannah during a previous one-on-one date in Newport, RI, he had joined the show for the platform and to promote his music career.

But according to his now ex-girlfriend Haley, a fellow Nashville-based musician, Jed planned to use Hannah in the worst way given he had a girlfriend back home the whole time and had promised to resume dating her once the show was over.

"I was following along on spoiler accounts, trying to figure out when my boyfriend was going to come home. I bought a homecoming outfit that I was going to wear to maybe pick him up at the airport," Haley told People last month.

Haley insisted Jed was hoping to woo Hannah and string her along far into the The Bachelorette process, revealing, "He said he only wanted to be Top 5 [bachelors]... to be a major player so that it would be beneficial [to his career]."

Haley said Jed always said the right thing when she'd express concern over the fact he might end up seriously dating another woman and falling in love.

"He was always so reassuring," noted Haley, who met Jed in October 2018 in Nashville. "He told me, it's not real. It's acting."

Haley also claimed Jed called her when his plane landed in Los Angeles before filming commenced.

"He said, 'I love you, and I'll call you when I get back,'" she previously told People.

Haley said she was "baffled" to discover Jed recently returned home to Nashville but never called her. She therefore reportedly confronted him when they bumped into each other at a music venue in early June.

Haley claimed Jed offered little to no explanation as to what happened with Hannah on The Bachelorette.

"The hardest part is that he ghosted me. He loved me, but he didn't have enough respect for me to have that tough conversation," she told People at the time.

But Haley told Entertainment Tonight in a subsequent interview Jed had been honest with her about his intentions for going on The Bachelorette from the get-go. Jed reportedly told Haley he might be cast on the show three weeks into their relationship and even gave her an out.

Haley, however, said she decided to stick it out with Jed since his ultimate goal was to promote his music, and so they had been together for four months by the time he left for filming in March.

Haley has insisted in multiple interviews her relationship with Jed is over no matter what although she doesn't necessarily consider him to be a bad guy.
