Amelia Lowe, an 18-year-old contemporary dancer from Butler, NJ; Janelle Issis, a 24-year-old belly dancer from Birmingham, AL; Dareian Kujawa, a 20-year-old contemporary dancer from St. Paul, MN; and Matthew Kazmierczak, a 21-year-old contemporary dancer from Peoria, AZ, were eliminated by So You Think You Can Dance judges Nigel Lythgoe and Mary Murphy and guest judges Michael Nunn and Billy Trevitt after they found themselves in the week's bottom-six dancers based on home viewer votes cast immediately following the show's last pre-Olympic broadcast on July 25, which had featured the season's Top 16 finalists performing and concluded with the ouster of two dancers.

Lindsay Arnold, an 18-year-old Latin ballroom dancer from Provo, UT, and George Lawrence II, a 19-year-old contemporary dancer from Decatur, GA, were the other two bottom-six vote-getting dancers still in danger of elimination during Wednesday night's broadcast, but they were saved by the So You Think You Can Dance judges.

The judges were required to eliminate four individuals, two males and two females, from the Top 14 last night based upon their performances from the July 25 show (So You Think You Can Dance's last before its London Olympics hiatus) but also their new routines performed Wednesday night. The judges asked all six dancers to each perform a solo routine and "dance for their lives" to help them determine which two contestants should remain on the show.

After watching the six "dance for your life" performers and evaluating other criteria -- such as what the dancers' choreographers had to say about their talent, progress and potential in the competition -- the judges decided to send Amelia, Janelle, Dareian, and Matthew home.
