William Ray "Ray J" Norwood Jr. has announced that he has serious heart issues and may not live much longer.

The 45-year-old R&B singer and reality TV star opened up about his health crisis in a January 25 Instagram live post, which he captioned, "Just almost died!! I'm alive because of your prayers and support!!"
In the video, Ray J shared, "I was in the hospital. My heart is only beating like 25 percent, but as long as I stay focused and stay on the right path, everything will be alright. So thank you for all of your prayers."
Ray J had been hospitalized for a severe case of pneumonia earlier this month.
In a separate social media video that has circulated online, Ray J claimed that doctors had told him he only has months left to live.

Ray J declared in the video, "2027 is definitely a wrap for me. My health is not okay."
Ray J pointed to his heart and said the right side is "black" and "done" because he had "f-cked up" by abusing alcohol and drugs.
"I thought... I could handle all the alcohol, I could handle all the Adderall, I could handle all the drugs, but I couldn't," the singer added.
Ray said he plans to travel to Haiti in February to "do some voodoo," and he thanked his sister Brandy Norwood for carrying the financial burden of his hospital bills.
Not only is Ray J facing health issues, but he's also dealing with legal ones as well.

Ray J was arrested in November 2025 after allegedly pointing a gun at his ex-wife Princess Love. He was charged with making a criminal threat, Variety reported.
Ray J is also battling Kim Kardashian and her mother Kris Jenner in court relating to a settlement agreement over the release of Kim and Ray J's infamous sex tape.
When the sex tape was initially released in 2007, Ray J and Kim were dating.
Ray J currently appears on Love & Hip Hop: Miami, which airs on Wednesday nights on BET.
Ray first joined the cast of Love & Hip Hop: Miami for Season 4, which premiered on VH1 in August 2021.

Ray has also appeared on several other reality TV shows over the years.
In 2009, Ray J starred in his own VH1 reality dating show, For the Love of Ray J.
The show premiered in February 2009, and then its second season premiered in November of that year.
Ray J and his sister Brandy then joined forces for the VH1 reality series, Brandy & Ray J: A Family Business, which also featured their parents. The show aired for two seasons between 2010 and 2011.
Ray J went on to become a main cast member on Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood. He appeared on all six seasons of the show, which aired from 2014 to 2019 on VH1.

In January 2017, the singer also competed on Season 19 of Celebrity Big Brother in the U.K. He walked off the show after one week of filming.
In addition, Ray J competed alongside Brandy on the Fox reality cooking series My Kitchen Rules in 2017.
