Lifetime is expanding its reality TV mama drama from the dance floor to the ice rink.

Lifetime and Collins Avenue, the production company behind Dance Moms, have announced they are developing Ice Moms -- a new reality series which will follow doting mothers and their talented children in the world of competitive figure skating.
Ice Moms will feature Dearborn, MI-based figure skating coaches Laurie Vigilante and Adam Schmidt training their students in the hopes of turning them into champion skaters. The two coaches "demand from students and parents the practice, precision and perfection required to succeed in the hit sport," according to the network.
Lifetime announced earlier this month it had ordered Dance Moms: Miami, a new Dance Moms spinoff that will follow a completely new set of instructors, moms and their kids at a Miami-area dance studio.
"We've conquered the world of competitive dance with our hit Dance Moms and have great plans to expand the franchise to Miami," Lifetime executive Rob Sharenow said in a statement.

"Now, we're bringing the format to the intensely competitive world of figure skating and revealing the explosive dynamic between the kids, parents and coaches who all want to be the best. We'll show all the blood, sweat and tears it takes to be a champion on ice."
Dance Moms: Miami will spotlight Stars Dance Studio and chronicle both the school's owners and contemporary dance instructors Victor Smalley and Angel Armas as they teach, train and choreograph a diverse group of talented girl and boy dancers who wish to pursue titles in the competitive dance.
The second season of the original Dance Moms series -- which follows the dance studio of Pittsburgh-area dance instructor Abby Lee Miller -- premiered earlier this month and currently airs Tuesdays at 9PM ET/PT on Lifetime.
