Kaitlyn Bristowe has revealed she wanted to stray from "the format" when she starred on The Bachelorette, similar to how Colton Underwood handled things on The Bachelor, but she wasn't able to.

The former The Bachelorette star said on a live episode of her "Off the Vine" podcast on Tuesday with Colton and girlfriend Cassie Randolph that she didn't want to follow the rules when she was down to her Final 3 bachelors on Season 11 in 2015.

"Now it's usually the format of the show to get engaged, but let me tell you, I was so annoyed on my season," Kaitlyn, 33, said.

"I wanted to do what you did, [Colton], and be like, 'Screw it, I know who I'm picking.'"

Kaitlyn was referring to how Colton decided to dump Tayshia Adams and Hannah Godwin prematurely -- before his round of Fantasy Suite dates were over -- in order to go after the girl he loved and really wanted, Cassie.

"You didn't have a fence. That was your problem," Colton noted, recalling the moment he threatened to quit production after Cassie broke his heart at first.

"You know what? I didn't have the damn fence," Kaitlyn agreed. "That fence is iconic."

On Kaitlyn's season, she had narrowed down her group of suitors to Shawn Booth, Nick Viall and Ben Higgins.

"On my season I was like, 'Can I just send the other guy home?' Oh, I think Ben's [in the audience]... No offense, Ben!" Kaitlyn said, according to Us Weekly.

Kaitlyn decided to send Ben home after enjoying three Fantasy Suite dates, allowing both Nick and Shawn to have a hometown date afterwards.

Kaitlyn's season was a bit backwards in that four men typically receive a hometown date before the Fantasy Suite week begins.

In the end, both Nick and Shawn got down on one knee, but Kaitlyn accepted a marriage proposal from Shawn.

Kaitlyn therefore suggested she never wanted to get engaged on the show, which is consistent with what she has told the press in the past.

Kaitlyn made it known during her three-year relationship with Shawn that she wanted him to pop the question again so it would be organic as well as a surprise.

But Kaitlyn and Shawn struggled to make things work in 2018 after three years together and announced their decision to split in November of last year.

Kaitlyn is now dating and in love with The Bachelorette bachelor Jason Tartick, who competed for Becca Kufrin's heart in 2018.

"We hadn't been hanging out very long... but it was long enough to know how we felt," Kaitlyn explained of exchanging professions of love earlier this month, according to Us. "[The moment] was romantic because it was raw and real."

Colton, meanwhile, professed his love for Cassie before the Fantasy Suite portion of their date in Portugal, but Cassie determined she needed to quit the show because she didn't reciprocate such strong feelings yet.

Cassie also felt she wasn't ready to accept a marriage proposal from Colton and wanted him to leave the process with the happy ending he had hoped for.

Colton, however, refused to give up, and after dumping both Tayshia and Hannah in Portugal, he begged Cassie to simply give him a chance and date him -- with no expectations of an engagement.

Cassie obliged and then traveled to Spain to meet Colton's family while cameras were still rolling. Once the show ended, Cassie slowly fell in love with Colton in the real world.
