The Johnson & Johnson heiress had been diagnosed with diabetes as a child and was rumored to have long battled a substance abuse problem, E! News said.

TMZ said the Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the circumstances of her death.

"It appears to be a natural death," Officer Sara Faden told People.com. "There's no evidence of foul play. A toxicology report from the coroner's office will proceed next."

A law enforcement source told TMZ it appears Johnson was dead for several days before her body was found.
