Famously Single star Josh Murray has opened up about why he wanted to appear on the new E! reality show after heartbreak followed his stint on The Bachelorette starring Andi Dorfman, his ex-fiancee.

When Famously Single debuts Tuesday night at 10PM ET/PT on E!, Murray and seven other celebrities -- including Brandi Glanville and Paul "Pauly D" DelVecchio -- will learn from relationship expert Dr. Darcy Sterling how to be better partners to achieve a lasting union down the road.
"I thought it was a great opportunity for me to learn more. Before The Bachelorette, I hadn't been in a relationship in four or five years. I don't date a lot. I need to date. I need to learn what I like and don't like. I needed this little push in front of the cameras," Murray told the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
"I feel I'll be held more accountable in front of a bunch of people. It makes you do things that may be uncomfortable in the normal world. By doing this, it forces me to date. You need to be uncomfortable to grow in life."
Murray insisted that despite coming across super confident and smooth on The Bachelorette, he's neither of those things when it comes to dating.

"I'm actually very very shy when it comes to going up and approaching a woman I'm very attracted to," Murray said. "I'm afraid to get involved... If there's a possibility of me hurting someone, I won't begin a relationship. I need to learn to go and put myself out there," Murray explained.
Murray, 31, seems to be looking for a pretty traditional relationship.
"I'm a family guy," Murray noted. "I want a wife. I want kids. But I can't do that sitting around waiting for her to come to me. I need to be more proactive. I need to learn that. I'm getting older."
Murray told the newspaper he enjoyed getting to know everyone in the Famously Single cast and didn't instigate drama.
"I don't consider myself famous or a celebrity many of them are. They have to deal with what I deal with on a much bigger scale. It puts everything in perspective," Murray said.

Although Murray didn't reveal whether he hooked up with anybody on the show, he did develop a "brother sister vibe" with Glanville from The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. In one preview for the upcoming season, the pair is shown in bed together, appearing quite close.
Murray, a former pro baseball player and financial advisor who now distributes sports performance and weight-loss products for Advocare, explained that he's trying to use his platform "in a positive way."
"If TV does that, that's great. But for me, these shows are about me finding someone. That's the most important thing. Once I find a wife and have a family, I'll want to live my life. I'll be happy if nobody knows me," he claimed.
Murray competed on the tenth season of The Bachelorette and got engaged to Dorfman in late 2014 after an eight-week whirlwind romance. They split in January 2015, which came as a shock to Bachelor nation.
While the pair kept their issues fairly silent for months, Dorfman explained her unflattering side of the story in It's Not Okay: Turning Heartbreak Into Happily Never After, which hit shelves last month.
