E! Network announced it has begun production on a new untitled reality series that will follow the daily life of Paris Hilton gal pal Kim Kardashian and her family.

With Hilton and BFF Nicole Richie's The Simple Life reality series ending its broadcast run earlier this month, E! is presumably looking to pass the torch to Kardashian, a 26-year-old boutique owner, model and actress.

The new docu-reality series will also feature Kardashian's two sisters Kourtney and Khloe -- who double as her business partners -- as well as her manager/mom Kris; her pre-teen half-sisters Kendall and Kylie; and her step-father Bruce Jenner, an Olympic gold medalist.

"The Kardashians are just your typical, modern day, celebrity, estrogen-driven, say-anything, blended family, as typical as any of that really is," said Lisa Berger, E!'s executive vice president of programming and development. "There is much more to Kim and her family than meets the eye and I think her hilarious home-life and versatile career will appeal to our viewers."

The show is expected to debut this fall on E!.  It is a production of The Simple Life and The Real World producers Bunim-Murray Productions, as well as American Idol host Ryan Seacrests's Ryan Seacrest Productions.

"At the heart of this series -- despite the cat fights and endless sarcasm -- is a family that truly loves and supports one another," said Seacrest, who will also serve as an executive producer. "The familiar dynamics of this family make them one Hollywood bunch that is sure to entertain."

Kardashian is the daughter of the late Robert Kardashian, a defense lawyer mostly known for his work on the O.J. Simpson trial.  However she officially became a media star in her own right when she befriended Hilton and the two were constantly captured on camera partying as only a pair of socialites can.

She and Hilton also share a similarity both would presumably like to forget about.

Just as a sex tape starring Hilton surfaced prior to The Simple Life's December 2003 debut on Fox, an X-rated video featuring Kardashian with her then boyfriend Ray J. hit the Internet earlier this year, causing her to file an invasion-of-privacy lawsuit against porn production company Vivid Entertainment, which planned to release a DVD of the steamy footage.  Kardashian eventually reached a multimillion-dollar settlement with Vivid and the video was taken off the market.
