The former U.S. presidential candidate and Emma became the second couple sent home from the ABC reality competition's 23rd season based on the combination of the Dancing with the Stars judges' scores they had received during Monday night's performance show and home viewer votes that were cast afterward.

"My daughter is getting the 15th of October but I can promise you I will look good on the dance floor for her," Rick said following his ouster.

"And I'm doing it for all the veterans out there, and I hope everyone will find a great veterans cause to go help these guys.  We've got one called Advance the Colors that I hope everyone will go take a look at. Thank you guys!"

Talk show host and model Amber Rose and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy were the other couple in danger of elimination on Tuesday night prior to Dancing with the Stars host Tom Bergeron's announcement of Rick and Emma's exit, however they were not necessarily the other member of the week's the bottom-two couples based on the judges' scores and America's votes.

Rick and Emma had finished tied for eleventh and last place on Monday night's judging leaderboard after earning 23 out of 40 points for their paso doble routine.

Due to Monday night's U.S. presidential debate, the Dancing with the Stars' broadcast had featured a special abbreviated one-hour format in which the twelve remaining dance couples were paired into six "face-offs" in which two couples were assigned the same style of dance and required to perform them back-to-back.

Dancing with the Stars judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, Julianne Hough and Bruno Tonioli had then scored the dances -- immediately, without getting to give any commentary on the performances -- and the dancing couple which received higher scores for the dance style won immunity from elimination on Tuesday night.

Vanilla Ice and partner Witney Carson had competed against Rick and Emma in the paso doble face-off. Both couples had received identical scores of 25 points from the judges, resulting in the score of Len -- the judging panel's head judge -- serving as the tiebreaker.

Since Len had given Vanilla Ice a score of 6 points and only given Rick a score of 5 points, Vanilla and Witney had received immunity.
