A white powder found in an envelope among Bristol Palin's "Dancing with the Stars" fan mail in Los Angeles turned out to be harmless, ABC said.

The network issued a written statement Friday saying Los Angeles firefighters who responded determined the substance was talcum powder.

The New York Daily News said Saturday part of the building was evacuated for a period.

Palin, the daughter of 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin, has been staying alive in the ABC dance competition despite rumors that conservative viewers have been voting for her because they like her mom's politics rather than for her skills as a hoofer, the newspaper said.

The Daily News said TMZ reported that a threatening letter was included in the envelope and that the FBI was taking part in the investigation.
