Big Brother's houseguests evicted Jack Matthews from the Big Brother house and crowned the season's next Head of Household during Thursday night's live Season 21 broadcast on CBS.

Jack, a 28-year-old fitness trainer from Chicago, IL who currently resides in Tampa, FL, was evicted from the Big Brother house via a 6-2 vote over Jackson Michie, a 23-year-old server from Nashville, TN who currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.

With his eviction, Jack became the first member of the jury that will ultimately decide which Big Brother Season 21 houseguest will win the season's $500,000 grand prize.

Jack and Jackson -- whom the other Big Brother houseguests have also called Michie during the season given the similarity of the two men's first names -- had been nominated from eviction by Jessica Milagros, the week's Head of Household.

Jessica, a 30-something model from Chicago, IL who currently resides in Oak Park, IL, had nominated Jack and Michie for eviction at the week's Nomination Ceremony and then opted to keep her nominations unchanged after she won the week's subsequent Power of Veto competition.

Jack and Michie had both been members of the Six Shooters, the six-person alliance that had been controlling the Big Brother game until it suddenly imploded hours before last week's eviction vote.

The four other members of the former six-person alliance split their votes between the two men. Holly Allen and Tommy Bracco voted to evict Jack, while Analyse Talavera and Christie Murphy voted to evict Michie.

Big Brother houseguests Cliff Hogg, Kathryn Dunn, Nick Maccarone, and Nicole Anthony also all voted for Jack's eviction.

After his eviction, Big Brother host Julie Chen questioned Jack about some of the controversial and allegedly racist comments he had made during his time in the Big Brother house.

While the comments had been seen by viewers of Big Brother's live feeds, they had not previously aired on the show's CBS broadcasts.

During Julie's questioning, a clip package showing several of Jack's comments about previously-evicted African-American houseguest Kemi Faknule was aired.

"Oh no," Jack said as Julie introduced the clip package, which included Jack calling Kemi "a bitch," "dogsh-t," and saying he "wanted to stomp a mudhole through her chest."

"Controversial," Jack remarked immediately as the "mudhole" comment aired.

"Watching that now, what are your thoughts?" Julie asked Jack after the clip package was shown.

"Okay.  Well, I will say that the 'stump a mudhole' comment is based on something [Sam Bledsoe] said last season when she was frustrated.  And I don't think there was any personal vendetta in me saying that. I think my statements were playful in a group of people," Jack replied.

"I do apologize for what I said. And that's very sincere. I think Kemi was, and is, a great person. I think this game and being in 24-hour view of people -- and you say things. And I wouldn't say that I fully support the things that I said and the way that I said them."

"If I could take them back I would, and I wish I could have articulated them in some other way possible. But it doesn't take away the fact that I don't think Kemi a wonderful person inside and outside this house -- as a person, absolutely."

Julie then also asked Jack about another previously-unaired incident in which Jack had made a "rice pudding" comment while he and his allies were discussing previously-evicted Asian houseguest Isabella "Bella" Wang.

"Because Bella is Asian-American and you made the rice pudding comment, some people thought that was a derogatory statement about her ethnicity. What is your response to that?" Julie asked after a clip showing the incident was aired.

"I appreciate you letting me voice my opinion about that.  We spoke earlier in [that] evening -- there was the slop thing going on -- and people were making different recipes in that evening. Mainly Tommy and Christy. And rice pudding was spoken about in slop pudding," Jack replied.

"And so earlier in the evening, rice and slop pudding were going around, and so Tommy bringing it up in that situation made me say it there."

"It had nothing -- absolutely nothing -- to do with her ethnicity whatsoever.  And I appreciate that I get to voice me saying that," he concluded.

After Jack's interview with Julie concluded, the remaining Big Brother houseguests -- minus Jessica, who as the outgoing HoH, was ineligible to compete -- competed in the season's next Head of Household competition.

Tommy won the competition, making him the season's next HoH.
