Bachelor in Paradise star Jess Edwards has revealed the details of a secret conversation she had with Spencer Conley that helped her feel ready to take that next step in their relationship.

While Jess and Spencer weren't the only couple who found love on Bachelor in Paradise's tenth season, they were the only couple who left Costa Rica engaged.

In the days leading up to their engagement, however, Jess had expressed hesitation about getting engaged and moving in with Spencer too quickly.

"We had had a really long conversation the night before, and I got the chance to speak with my family, which was a huge weight lifted off my shoulder," Jess shared with People.

"They were kind of like, 'If this is where your heart is leading you, we say go for it. We say, take the leap.' And that was the cherry on top. That's what I needed to hear."

Part of the reason Jess was reluctant to commit to Spencer was because she had moved for a man before and their relationship didn't work out. Jess was seemingly afraid to uproot her life again and end up with a broken heart.

"I think that with a new relationship and taking a leap like that, you obviously have all these things from your past that are still trying to haunt you, and you have to ignore it and you have to just look at what's in front of you," Jess reasoned.

"I think that he also created such a safe place for me," she continued. "There was no pressure from him."

Spencer apparently told Jess in Costa Rica that they'd move in their relationship at her speed.

"He was like, 'The ball is in your court. I'm 100% ready to do this, but I want you to feel 100% ready,'" Jess recalled.

"And him leaving it up to me and not putting the pressure on it was so nice because I was just like, 'Okay, well either way I'm going to have him. I'm going to have this amazing relationship.'"

Jess said Spencer's consideration and concern for her emotional well-being "solidified" that she "was making the right decision in picking him" as her person.

And for Spencer, he said he appreciated Jess taking an engagement so seriously.

"Seeing the gravity at which she was considering the potential of a proposal is the biggest green flag for me," Spencer gushed to the magazine.

"I've had a failed engagement. I don't want another. I don't want to disappoint her and her family. She's the only child of her dad, and she made it very, very apparent to me that it's very important to her that she only gets engaged once."

Spencer therefore admitted he was also "wrestling" with whether proposing marriage would be the right thing to do in the final days of Bachelor in Paradise's tenth season.

But Jess admitted she was "hopeful that an engagement was coming" on that last day.

Once it became time for Jess and Spencer' last relationship test -- to choose money in the form of $250,000 or love -- they both passed the test by choosing to put their relationship first and forego the money.

"It was an easy decision to choose love," Jess said. "I think that finding your person, and finding your soul mate and the love of your life is more than money could ever buy."

But as a reward for choosing love, Bachelor in Paradise host Jesse Palmer allowed the couple to pick one of three envelopes with different cash prizes in them.

Jess and Spencer ultimately won $190,000 during the September 2 finale on ABC.

Jess and Spencer told People that since filming ended in late May, they've been traveling between her place in San Diego, CA, and Spencer's home in Dallas, TX.

However, the pair's long-distance relationship is going to change when Jess moves to Dallas in 2026.

As far as a wedding goes, Jess and Spencer shared how they're in no rush to tie the knot.

In addition to Spencer and Jess, Alexe Godin and Andrew Spencer also won money in the amount of $25,000 on Bachelor in Paradise.

Alexe and Andrew left Paradise still dating and in love, and so did Kat Izzo and Dale Moss.

Jeremy Simon and Bailey Taylor Brown are also still together.
