Alexa PenaVega and Mark Ballas confess their Dancing with the Stars ouster Monday night was a huge surprise.

"Yeah it was," Alexa said during a Tuesday appearance on Good Morning America.

"Yeah it was," Mark echoed. "But I was saying to her, she was really amazing last night and really embodied the movement. And if you're going to go out, you go out with a bang! I was really proud of her last night. She did really, really good."

Alexa and Mark scored a perfect overall score of 60 points -- 30 points for their individual contemporary routine which represented how she overcame a long battle with Bulimia and 30 additional points for their joint "showstopping" dance with Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough.

"[Bulimia] was something that I knew at some point in my life I would talk about it. I just didn't know when that time would be, because I still carried that fear of what people would think of me," Alexa said.

"I didn't want people to think of me and then go, 'Oh, THAT'S who she is! She's the girl who struggled with that.' I want them to think of me as an overcomer, as still who I am and I just HAPPENED to have that experience. I feel like this show allowed me to gain that confidence, to just talk about it and maybe help other people who are going through that and really just put it all to rest."

Prior to Alexa and Mark's elimination last night, her husband Carlos PenaVega and partner Witney Carson were also in jeopardy of going home. Both Alexa and Carlos embraced as they bawled onstage, and Carlos kept repeating how it should've been him to get voted out instead of her.

"Oh yeah. That was rough!" Alexa said, awkwardly laughing about Carlos' little meltdown. "That was really rough."

"I was like, 'Babe, it's fine! It's okay. You got to just go back out there and you're gonna get that mirrorball trophy whether you go out there and steal it or win it!'" Alexa continued. "I was like, 'You're bringing that mirrorball home!'"

Dancing with the Stars still has Carlos, Bindi, Tamar Braxton, Nick Carter, and Alek Skarlatos in the running for the Season 21 title.
