The 36-year-old singer and "The Voice" coach showed off the ink on Instagram, telling fans it took Bryan Randolph of Spider Murphy's Tattoo six months to complete the piece.

"6 months in the making. Thanks @bryanrandolph for absolutely blowing my mind with this one! Wooo hooooo!!!!!" the star captioned a photo of the tattoo.

The Maroon 5 frontman's latest piece features a mermaid with angel wings against an ocean backdrop with a sailing ship.

The sea-themed scene is framed by roses, sparrows and a mandala-like compass.

Levine has numerous other tattoos, including the Sanskrit word "tapas" above his heart.

He opened up about the piece in an interview with Inked magazine in 2013, admitting not all of his tattoos are as meaningful.

"The meaning is a little bit loose and can get misinterpreted, but when applied to talking about yoga, it has to do with my fire or determination for the practice," the star explained. "It's a personal thing. That's kind of why I put it in a place that's a bit more hidden."

"Some of them mean something and some of them don't," he previously told Oprah Winfrey on "Oprah's Next Chapter."

"My mother hates them, even though I have a "mom" tattoo ... You're on the road, you get bored, you just do it."

Levine and Maroon 5 last released the compilation album Singles in September and kicked off their Maroon V tour Feb. 16.

The singer will return as a coach Feb. 29 on "The Voice" Season 10 with Tori Kelly as his team's advisor.
