As promised by Survivor host Jeff Probst on the live reunion show, each of the 18 participants in Survivor: All-Stars has recorded a video giving reasons why he or she should be awarded the $1 million prize that goes to the viewers' choice of the survivor who was deemed most worthy of the money. Not surprisingly, the pitches for the money ranged from charitable to desperate.
The beneficiary of heavy resentment regarding the manner in which her alliance and Final Two partner -- and now fiance -- Rob Mariano played the game, Survivor: The Australian Outback'sAmber Brkich emerged as the champion and $1 million winner during last night's Survivor: All-Stars finale on CBS.
Finally, Shii Ann Huang's number was up. After failing to follow up last week's immunity challenge victory with another victory in this week's "Fire Tower" challenge, Shii Ann, the last remaining Mogo Mogo tribe member, was voted out of the Survior: All-Stars by the game's five remaining Chapera members.
With Shii Ann Huang, the last remaining Mogo Mogo member winning immunity, the Chapera Six finally had to turn on themselves during last evening's Survivor: All-Stars broadcast. And as one of the group's clear outsiders, Alicia Calaway became the first to fall after seemingly ignoring Shii Ann's overtures to organize an "uprising" that in hindsight, might well have kept her in the game.
Continuing the fall-out from the Mogo Mogo tribe's ill-advised decision to keep the Chapera tribe's Amber Brkich over their own Jerri Manthey at the game's last pre-merge Tribal Council, Kathy Vavrick-O'Brien became the eleventh contestant to ousted from the game during last night's Survivor: All-Stars broadcast.
Apparently Survivor itself wouldn't survive if future contestants learned information that is already widely known on the Internet. At least, that seems to be CBS's view, after pressure from CBS lawyers led to the termination of a newspaper column being written by a former Survivor castaway.
CBS today formally announced what has been reported for months already, that eighteen former Survivor castaways, including four previous winners, will return to compete in Survivor: All-Stars. The eighth installment of the smash-hit series will premiere Sunday, February 1, immediately following CBS Sports’ coverage of Super Bowl XXXVIII.
If you can't wait until the premiere of CBS's Survivor: Pearl Islandson Thursday, Sept. 18, VH1 has a solution for you. An episode of VH1 Goes Inside focused on Survivor will air beginning Saturday, Sept. 13 and will be repeated periodically until Thursday, Sept. 18.
The identities of the 16 castaways participating in SURVIVOR: THAILAND were unveiled today in anticipation of the series' premiere on Thursday, Sept. 19 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. CBS News’ THE EARLY SHOW officially announced the new group on this morning’s broadcast (although regular website visitors already know that the names and photos of the castaways were leaked last evening.)
