Tyler Cameron has reacted to former The Bachelorette star Hannah Brown's claim that he broke her heart and made her feel like his backup "bench girl" after her season aired on ABC.

Hannah recalled receiving mixed signals and navigating a confusing relationship with Tyler from 2019-2020 in her memoir, God Bless This Mess: Learning to Live and Love Through Life's Best (and Worst) Moments.

Not only did Hannah write that she felt like Tyler's "backup player who never got to play in the game," but she also said their relationship "wasn't some game" to her and he "broke" her heart when he began dating supermodel Gigi Hadid shortly after The Bachelorette's fifteenth season wrapped on TV.

During a Monday appearance on "The Bellas Podcast," hosts Nikki Bella and Brie Bella asked Tyler about recent headlines stemming from the release of God Bless This Mess, which provides Hannah's account of the demise of her relationship with her The Bachelorette runner-up.

"So obviously there was a recent headline with Hannah Brown. She came out with a book, right, and mentioned how she's just so heartbroken over rejection," Nikki began.

"Pretty much, Boo just put it [as], 'Tyler Cameron rejected me,' and the whole world goes, 'Yeah, no sh-t,'" Brie summarized with a laugh.

Brie added, "I think she thought she was going to shock the world and everyone was just like, 'Oh, well, duh.'"

"I've got a question," Nikki interjected, "she put out a text message."

"I've got receipts too," Tyler cheekily quipped.

Tyler went on to explain, "That whole thing, first of all, you're going to see the level of respect we have for each other. The way I talked about her in my book showed nothing but love. We'll see how she talks about me in her book, you know?"

Tyler's own memoir is titled You Deserve Better: What Life Has Taught Me About Love, Relationships, and Becoming Your Best Self.

In the book, Tyler confessed to handling the situation with Hannah and Gigi very poorly, and he called his treatment of Hannah at the time "a major mistake."

But Tyler noted on Nikki and Brie's podcast, "I hope she's happy. I hope she's successful. You know, she's writing a book, she's got to sell books. She's got to make headlines."

Tyler concluded, "Sell them books!"

Hannah recalled in God Bless This Mess that she had made a mistake by getting engaged to Jed Wyatt at the end of her The Bachelorette season and so she asked Tyler out during After the Final Rose, which resulted in Hannah and the former Florida general contractor spending a night together at Hannah's place in Los Angeles in early August 2019.

But then Tyler quickly distanced himself from Hannah and said they both deserved to date other people. He therefore moved on with Gigi, a turn of events Hannah called "shocking" and hurtful in her book.

"This wasn't a TV show. This wasn't some game," Hannah wrote, according to Us Weekly.

"My time with Tyler at my apartment wasn't some meaningless hookup, the way it was portrayed in the press. My heart was on the line. And he broke it. With a supermodel."

Hannah admitted, "And what's crazy is, I loved Gigi Hadid! I thought she was the coolest. I still do. I get it. I would even go on a date with her. I wanna be her friend!"

But Hannah clarified, "Never did I expect to be in a love triangle with her."

While Tyler dated Gigi for a couple of months and pursued an acting career in New York City, Hannah competed on Dancing with the Stars in late 2019 and tried to sort out her feelings.

(Hannah also had trouble letting her third-place The Bachelorette finisher Peter Weber go, and the pair hooked up in February 2020 while Peter's season of The Bachelor was airing on ABC.)

However, Tyler's beloved mother Andrea Cameron was hospitalized in late February 2020, and she died from a tragic brain aneurysm shortly afterwards.

The day after Andrea passed away, Hannah's brother experienced a drug overdose, and so Hannah reunited with Tyler in his home state of Florida so she could attend Andrea's memorial and the pair could support each other through their respective traumas.

Hannah subsequently got her brother settled into rehab and then Tyler invited her to come back to Jupiter and quarantine with a group of his friends once the coronavirus pandemic began in March 2020.

Hannah and Tyler were in lockdown for several weeks together, along with The Bachelor 25 star Matt James and the rest of "The Quarantine Crew."

Tyler and Hannah -- who never anticipated her stay to be so long -- apparently slept in the same bed for several weeks but never hooked up or even kissed. Hannah wrote in her memoir that she felt "miserable" and self-conscious about the fact Tyler was not making a move on her.

Hannah explained that she and Tyler would sometimes go days without talking, and at other times, they would cuddle at night.

Hannah ultimately returned home single to Alabama on April 1, 2020 and feeling pretty upset and alone.

While The Bachelorette fans were shipping Hannah and Tyler pretty hard at this point, Hannah admitted in her book, "Two unhealthy people do not make for a healthy relationship."

Hannah claimed she has not seen or spoken to Tyler since they briefly reunited in October 2020 in Los Angeles to film a YouTube video about their adventures in quarantine together.

And when they reconnected, Hannah said she didn't feel like Tyler's main priority at all.

Feeling like Tyler's "bench girl," Hannah said she told Tyler that it was going to be too difficult for her to remain platonic pals with him.

"His last poetic words to me were, 'Well... if you rock with me, you rock with me. If you don't, you don't.' I wish I was making that up," Hannah wrote.

Before God Bless This Mess was released, Tyler told Us that he wasn't "nervous" about what Hannah had written about him.

"I'm sure I'll go grab a copy," Tyler noted. "I wish her the best and I hope it sells well."

Hannah has now been dating boyfriend, model Adam Woolard, for about a year.

Tyler was most recently in a serious relationship with model Camila Kendra, but she "broke off the relationship" in August after eight months of dating, Us previously reported.

"It was time for her to refocus on her own very lucrative career," a source said of why Camila allegedly pulled the plug when Tyler had declared he was "very in love" with her.
