The Voice coach Adam Levine watched his team perform in "The Playoffs" before eliminating three out of its six members during Tuesday night's Season 13 broadcast on NBC.

"The Playoffs" continued with six impressive performances from the members of Adam's team last night.

In addition to the five artists who had survived the previous rounds, Adam also got to select a "comeback artist," someone whom they believed deserved a second chance in The Voice competition.

After his team's set of performances, Adam decided to advance the following three artists to next week's live shows: Addison Agen, a 16-year-old student from Fort Wayne, IN; Jon Mero, a 31-year-old corporate singer from Iowa who currently resides in Atlanta, GA; and Adam Cunningham, a 38-year-old session singer from Iowa who currently resides in Nashville, TN.

Adam Levine admitted that letting Addison go "would be a disservice to planet earth," and he advanced Jon because there's more to discover and the coach couldn't pull himself away from him.

The third choice was a tough one, but Adam chose to keep Cunningham, saying there is "no way to do this the correct way."

The artists whom Adam therefore decided to eliminate were Emily Luther, a 24-year-old from Woonsocket, RI; Anthony Alexander, a 17-year-old from Fontana, CA; and his comeback artist for the season, Whitney Fenimore, a 28-year-old from Tulsa OK.

The Voice broadcast began with Cunningham performing "Have a Little Faith In Me" by Joe Cocker, and he received a standing ovation from all four coaches.

Blake said Cunningham seemed to have "the Holy Ghost" up there with him onstage and he felt "stupid" because the artist had previously been on his team. Jennifer said she felt Cunningham's energy and spirit, and Miley noted that the contestant is quickly becoming a fan favorite.

Adam then pointed out that Cunningham is starting to emerge at a crucial time in the competition and he's an amazing singer. Blake noted backstage that this could be Adam's chance to finally beat him on The Voice with a country artist.

Whitney sang "If It Makes You Happy" by Sheryl Crow. Blake admitted the first half of the song was a struggle for her, and Miley suggested that the contestant may have gotten lost in the lyrics a little bit.

Adam, however, insisted Whitney showed a lot of her strengths and did things vocally he didn't even know about. Adam also adores her as a human being and said she was "fantastic."

Emily took the stage with "Lovesong" by The Cure. Blake said she was "professional, ready and poised" on the stage, and Jennifer noted it was a "flawless" performance and the coaches felt more of her presence and personality this time around.

Adam then explained that Emily's performance was "amazing" and a "huge step in the right direction" because she's showing the human and soulful side of herself.

"She's got to go on for sure," Miley told Adam afterwards in private.

Anthony sang "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran, and Blake unfortunately detected a lot of nerves; however, the coach called him "super talented." Jennifer felt as if Anthony was singing to her, and Miley complimented the contestant on a job well done, saying he "nailed it."

Adam explained that it's not a matter of if Anthony's ready, but when. Anthony showed a lot of improvement, and Adam believes he could be very successful in the music industry.

Jon performed "When We Were Young" by Adele. Blake said his voice cut like a laser and you could hear every word he said, adding that he's more than ready for the industry. Jennifer insisted Jon had a moment on the show that everyone tries to achieve and she'd love to see him advance in the competition.

Adam thought Jon's performance was excellent and the coach appreciated the fact his team member is "multi-talented."

And last but certainly not least, Addison sang "Angel from Montgomery" by Bonnie Raitt, and all four coaches gave her a standing ovation. Blake said she has so much character in her voice and must have been born with an understanding of how to convey a lyric beautifully.

"If you don't move forward to the [live shows], I'm going to have somebody cut your brakes," Blake told Adam.

Miley, who previously had Addison on her team, confessed that she thought to herself after the performance: "Dang, Addison is probably going to win this and Adam is going to shove it in my face," but then she told the young singer, "but I'll be happy if you do."

Adam wants to see Addison succeed more than anything and said she's profound, like a "friggin unicorn."
