Chock took to Instagram recently and posted a video updating fans on his health, and The Golden Bachelorette star Joan Vassos was right by his side in Wichita, KS.

"I had something happen when I got off the show. I had a blood test that was drawn that showed I had an elevated PSA," Chock recalled.
"So we monitored it for a while and my PSA kept increasing. And long story short, a biopsy, an MRI, and then another biopsy, and it turned aggressive."

Chock therefore decided to be proactive and have his prostate removed on Wednesday, August 5.
"I made the decision to just to go ahead and have it removed," he explained.
Chock explained that cancer runs in his family and so he wants to be cautious and play it safe.
"I lost my mother to cancer, and I thought this was the best thing. And then Joan [lost her husband to cancer] and I got to hear my son say, 'How much time do you want to spend with your grandkids? Get it removed and that solves a lot of the problems,'" Chock said.
Chock admitted, however, that his "recovery has been a little rough" this past week.

"I've had a number of surgeries and this one's a little unique," Chock explained.
"But I'm glad I had it done. Joan's been here [in Kansas] taking care of me, cooking, and now I have the cleanest refrigerator in the world."
After Joan laughed, Chock confirmed that he's been "eating really good," all thanks to his fiancee.
"The goal is to put 20 pounds on, but I just wanted to bring everybody up to date," Chock shared.
Joan then chimed in and called Chock "a brave guy." She also confirmed that he's been "a really good patient" to take care of.

"I'm glad he made the decision that he made," Joan noted.
"I want to keep him around for the rest of my life, so I think we made the right decision, and we have a great trip planned at the end of August. So our reward is that we get to go to Europe."

Joan said Chock "should be totally fine traveling."
"I may have to carry our luggage, but I've been working out, so it will be fine!" she said.

Chock then advised his followers to have their blood tested because catching something early is "everything."
He concluded his video by saying he's doing "fine" and this was just "a little minor setback" in his life.
In the caption of Chock's post, he noted, "I know what's at stake," adding how he wants to "be around" for his grandchildren and for Joan.
"Cleared to travel, and I’m ready!" he exclaimed.
Chock proposed marriage to Joan during The Golden Bachelorette's Season 1 finale that aired in November 2024 on ABC.
In February, Chock teased how he and Joan were envisioning getting married in 2027.
"Yeah, 2027," Joan echoed, before adding, "We'll get married some time when our kids aren't getting married."
When asked if they had plans to live in the same city, given Joan still resides in Maryland, Chock replied, "At some point we do, yeah."
But Chock explained how he still has his company selling business insurance in Wichita and they're "traveling all the time."
"I think we will probably keep our houses," Joan said.
"And have a love shack," Chock interjected with a big smile.

But Chock predicted that Joan is going to want to live in Florida, eventually.
"And you're extra motivated when you're living in freezing cold Maryland -- in four feet of snow," Joan acknowledged.
Joan went on to explain how long distance hasn't had a negative impact on her romance with Chock thus far.
"We love each other and we talk every day," Chock said.
"Multiple times a day," Joan added.
"And then also, we get to see each other a lot. It's every other week, and I think two times, we went three weeks [apart]," Chock elaborated.
Prior to falling in love on The Golden Bachelorette in 2024, Joan competed for Gerry's heart on The Golden Bachelor's first season.
Joan chose to quit Gerry's season after a great one-on-one date to be there for her postpartum daughter back home.
