The Golden Bachelorette winner Chock Chapple has confirmed that he has prostate cancer, and now he's making it his mission to help others in the same situation.

In a recent Instagram post, Chock stated, "I wanted to follow up [from] last week with my post with [Joan Vassos] on me announcing that I have prostate cancer. [I] had the surgery a couple of weeks ago. I got two things that I want to talk about."

Chock explained how he and Joan received a lot of questions from fans, especially women, who wanted to know how they could convince their partners to get tested.
"They said, 'I'm concerned about this.' I'm not a physician... but prostate cancer is one of the most populous cancers, especially for men over 60 years old," Chock said.

Since Chock admittedly doesn't have all the answers, he invited his doctor to explain what measures should be taken.
"What the people are looking for is what processes should they do as they age?" Chock asked his doctor.
Chock's doctor replied, "It's often the loved ones that are driving the men to take care of themselves... One in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer. One in 44 will die from it."
The doctor therefore noted how prostate cancer is certainly "not nothing."
He continued, "This is one of the more important things, but men get scared away from prostate testing a lot because they think it has to be a physical exam. And really we just start with the bloodwork the majority of the time and then advance from there."

Chock insisted that the bloodwork was quick, and the doctor agreed there is no good reason to avoid bloodwork if cancer is a concern or possibility.
The doctor recommended a full panel for the blood draw -- even though it's not "a perfect test" -- and said it's "so important" to stay on top of this.
Chock concluded, "Nothing here sponsored, be proactive! Health is wealth."

Chock took to Instagram earlier this month from Wichita, KS, to share that he had his blood drawn after competing for Joan's heart on The Golden Bachelorette.

"I had an elevated PSA," Chock recalled.
"So we monitored it for a while and my PSA kept increasing. And long story short, a biopsy, an MRI, and then another biopsy, and it turned aggressive."
Since cancer runs in his family, Chock decided to be proactive and have his prostate removed on August 5.
"I lost my mother to cancer, and I thought this was the best thing. And then Joan [lost her husband to cancer] and I got to hear my son say, 'How much time do you want to spend with your grandkids? Get it removed and that solves a lot of the problems,'" Chock said.
Chock admitted, however, that his recovery was "a little rough" at the time.

"But I'm glad I had it done. Joan's been here [in Kansas] taking care of me, cooking, and now I have the cleanest refrigerator in the world," Chock shared.
Joan then chimed in and called Chock "a brave guy." She also confirmed that he was "a really good patient" to take care of.
"I'm glad he made the decision that he made," Joan noted.
"I want to keep him around for the rest of my life, so I think we made the right decision, and we have a great trip planned at the end of August. So our reward is that we get to go to Europe."
Joan said Chock "should be totally fine traveling," although she may have to carry his luggage.
Chock proposed marriage to Joan during The Golden Bachelorette's Season 1 finale that aired in November 2024 on ABC.

In February, Chock teased how he and Joan were envisioning getting married in 2027.
"Yeah, 2027," Joan echoed, before adding, "We'll get married some time when our kids aren't getting married."
When asked if they had plans to live in the same city, given Joan still resides in Maryland, Chock replied, "At some point we do, yeah."
But Chock explained how he still has his company selling business insurance in Wichita and they're "traveling all the time."

"I think we will probably keep our houses," Joan said.
"And have a love shack," Chock interjected with a big smile.
But Chock predicted that Joan is going to want to live in Florida, eventually.
"And you're extra motivated when you're living in freezing cold Maryland -- in four feet of snow," Joan acknowledged.
Joan went on to explain how long distance hasn't had a negative impact on her romance with Chock because they talk multiple times a day.
"And then also, we get to see each other a lot. It's every other week, and I think two times, we went three weeks [apart]," Chock elaborated.
Prior to falling in love on The Golden Bachelorette in 2024, Joan competed for Gerry's heart on The Golden Bachelor's first season.
Joan chose to quit Gerry's season after a great one-on-one date to be there for her postpartum daughter back home.
