Saffron and Derek, who appeared on The Bachelorette starring JoJo Fletcher and later looked for love on Bachelor in Paradise, both announced Monday on Instagram in the same post that they are hitched.

"Mr. & Mrs. Peth !!!" the couple captioned a photo of their wedding rings. "14/01/2021."

The pair has caused quite a stir over the surprising wedding date they listed, seemingly intentionally.

While many fans assumed 2021 was a typo and Derek and Saffron actually tied the knot on January 14, 2022, others believe the pair may have secretly married a year ago and just celebrated their one-year wedding anniversary.

Neither Derek or Saffron confirmed their wedding date in the comments, but Derek did tell one of his followers that he and his wife had written exactly what they wanted to write.

When the person asked if Derek and Saffron meant to write 2022, Derek replied, "We said what we said," along with an emoticon wearing sunglasses.

Derek's comment would appear to suggest he's having fun with the speculation and the couple has been married for a year.

Regardless, Derek is a married man and he's happy. He wrote in the comments, "I love our life together," to which Saffron responded, "I love u moreee."

Congratulatory messages poured in from members of Bachelor Nation including Caelynn Miller-Keyes, Jared Haibon, Danielle Maltby, and Ashley Iaconetti.

Derek and Saffron got engaged in November 2020 when Derek had popped the question with a custom-made, emerald-cut diamond.

At the time, Derek gushed of his then-fiancee on Instagram, "I can't wait to spend eternity with you, Saffie. The most beautiful, kind, loving partner and teammate I could have ever imagined."

Saffron began sharing funny moments from her relationship with Derek through TikTok videos in March 2020, when the couple began quarantining at the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Derek proceeded to share his first video clips of the couple in May of that year.

Before Derek became romantically involved with Saffron, who has modeled on the covers of Vogue India and British Vogue, he told Us Weekly that he was actually considering appearing on Bachelor in Paradise for the third time -- but ultimately chose not to do another stint.

"I'm not making an official statement, but right now, I don't see me doing another show," Derek told the magazine in September 2019. "Then again, I think I said that last time. I'm not sure."

The filming of Bachelor in Paradise's seventh season, however, was ultimately postponed due to COVID-19 and the series didn't air until Summer 2021.

Derek initially found fame on The Bachelorette's twelfth season, which aired in 2016.

When his relationship with JoJo didn't work out, Derek went on to find love on Bachelor in Paradise's fourth season in 2017 with Taylor Nolan, whom he got engaged to during the finale.

Taylor and Derek, however, announced their decision to split and call off their engagement in late June 2018 after trying to make a long-distant relationship work.

"We put everything we could into our relationship and are heartbroken to go forward separately, but we know this is the best decision for the both of us," the pair told Us in a joint statement at the time.

"We will still be present in each other's lives with support, admiration and respect for each other."

Derek subsequently appeared on Bachelor in Paradise's sixth season and became a fan-favorite.

While Season 6 of BIP was airing in August 2019, Derek landed a lot of support to become the franchise's leading man for 2020, before Peter Weber was officially announced as The Bachelor star for Season 24.

Bachelor Nation -- including Wells Adams, Chris Randone and Kristina Schulman -- had campaigned for Derek to be the Bachelor due to his mature reaction to Demi Burnett's conflicted heart and her coming out as bisexual on Bachelor in Paradise.

Derek fell hard for Demi in Paradise and they quickly became the most established and healthy couple in Mexico, but Demi was secretly thinking about a woman she had been dating at home prior to the show, Kristian Haggerty.

Demi therefore had to be open with Derek about where she stood, and he was nothing but compassionate and supportive.

"I can't put myself in her shoes. Truth be told, I can't understand the level of bravery and courage that it took to say to me," Derek told the cameras.

Derek hoped to continue his relationship with Demi despite the fact she had strong feelings for someone else, but she ultimately chose Kristian and Derek got hurt.

Derek vented at the time about how he's never a woman's first choice. He was tired of being told he's "a great" or "amazing" guy considering he never seemed to end up with the girl.

Derek later quit Bachelor in Paradise 6 after having a brief fling with Tayshia Adams, who went on to star on The Bachelorette's sixteenth season.
