The wife of former NBA basketball star Stephon Marbury is close to inking a deal to join the VH1 reality show because she's a real basketball wife and already has friends in the cast, TMZ reported.

According to TMZ sources, Tasha was approached to appear on Basketball Wives' first season but her husband didn't approve. However, now that Stephon is playing ball in China for the Beijing Ducks, he's reportedly had a change of heart.

Tasha will reportedly be replacing one of the three cast members who will not return for the fifth season of Basketball Wives: Jennifer Williams, Royce Reed and Kesha Nichols. Williams and Reed had been original cast members on the show since its first season, while Nichols had only joined the series for its fourth edition.

With Tasha now in the mix, Basketball Wives' producers are "looking to fill a couple more spots," TMZ reported. Evelyn Lozada is reportedly still on the fence about whether to return to the show, but if she decides to sign on for another season, she'll snag one of those remaining spots.
