NBC has announced the five musical celebrities who will attempt to find the country's best amateur choir in Clash of the Choirs, a new reality competition series that will air live over the course of four consecutive nights beginning with a special two-hour premiere on Monday, December 17 at 9PM ET.

Former Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica co-star Nick Lachey and Nashville Star judge Blake Shelton will be joined by Michael Bolton, Patti LaBelle and Kelly Rowland for Clash of the Choirs. Each of the five musicians will travel to their respective hometowns to audition amateur singers from a variety of musical backgrounds to compete on the show.
Bolton will be going back to his hometown of New Haven, CT; LaBelle will return to her hometown in Philadelphia, PA; Lachey will be going home to Cincinnati, OH; Rowland will be returning to Houston,TX; and Shelton will be going back to Oklahoma City, OK.
Once the choirs are chosen by the musicians, they will travel to New York City to perform live on-stage and compete against one another in-front of a live studio and home-viewing audience, tackling a variety of musical genres that range from holiday classics to current hits.
Home viewers will be able to vote via phone, text messaging or the Internet immediately following each Clash of the Choirs broadcast. The winning choir -- as well as the celebrity that organized them as a group -- will receive the opportunity to select a prize that will help their hometown, with choices ranging from a new school gym or auditorium to a new neighborhood park.

"We are over the moon that some of the world's most talented performers are taking part in a show that's set to be a high note of the holiday season," said Clash of the Choirs executive producer Paul Telegdy. "There's a tremendous amount at stake for these famous choirmasters competing for prizes for their hometowns - it will make for a terrific show."
After its two-hour premiere on December 17, NBC will air a one-hour episode of Clash of the Choirs on Tuesday, December 18 at 9PM ET, followed by another two-hour episode on Wednesday, December 19 at 9PM ET. The show's one-hour finale is scheduled to air Thursday, December 20 at 8PM ET.
Clash of the Choirs -- the format of which is based on a series acquired from Scandinavian-based Friday TV -- is being produced in the States by BBC Worldwide Productions, the same company behind ABC's Dancing with the Stars. Along with Telegdy, Jason Raff and Suzy Lamb will serve as executive producers.
NBC plans to announce Clash of the Choirs' host shortly.
