Miranda Lambert's new romance with American R&B musician Anderson East has been confirmed.

East's stepfather Randall Ennis revealed the couple has been dating "for a couple of weeks," In Touch Weekly reported. In fact, Ennis was aware of Lambert's relationship with East prior to all the headlines in the media.

Ennis has nothing but positive things to say about his 27-year-old stepson, who's formally known as Michael Cameron Anderson.

"Michael's an awesome kid," Ennis told In Touch. "He's got his head on straight and knows what he wants in life. He's just an amazing kid. He's outgoing, he just never meets a stranger. He's very polite."

Ennis admitted he doesn't know much, however, about 32-year-old Lambert, who served as a mentor on The Voice's sixth season for "Team Shakira."

"To be honest with you, I don't really follow country music so I really didn't even know who she was," Ennis confessed.

But Ennis probably won't have to wait long to meet the country superstar. When asked if East is the type of man who would take a woman home to meet his family, Ennis insisted, "Oh I'm sure he will!"

Lambert and ex-husband Blake Shelton announced their divorce in July after four years of marriage. Shelton is currently involved with fellow The Voice coach Gwen Stefani, who divorced Gavin Rossdale after 13 years of marriage because he allegedly cheated on her with their sons' nanny.

"I'm still processing everything and figuring out where to go and what happened," Lambert, who finished as a finalist on the first season of Nashville Startold Cosmopolitan magazine in its January issue.

"If I ever were to get married again -- which is completely not on my radar at all right now -- I feel like it's not about it being a step in life. It's not about a piece of paper or a diamond. It's the way you feel about somebody and the commitment in your heart."
