Linsey "Jade" Berardi, who briefly appeared on Oxygen's The Bad Girls Club, has died at the age of 22.

After rumors circulated late last week that Berardi had passed away, Oxygen confirmed the bad news with Berardi's family and subsequently released a media statement on Friday.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of Linsey 'Jade' Berardi, who appeared in the twelfth season of Bad Girls Club Season 12. Our deepest sympathy and heartfelt thoughts go out to her family, friends and fans," Oxygen said in the statement.

"In lieu of flowers, her family asks any donations be sent to animal shelters. Linsey was a lifetime animal lover and passionate advocate."

Berardi was called "Brooklyn Brat" on the reality show and reportedly got kicked off because she had gotten into a physical fight with a camera guy.

Although the details of Berardi's death have yet to be released, a former co-star of hers suggested drug abuse might've played a role.

"Sad to find out @misslinseyjade life was cut so short -- appreciate the ones you keep close!!" Jada Cacchilli tweeted April 2. "Drugs ruin so many lives."

The Bad Girls Club's twelfth season premiered in May 2014 and concluded in September of that year. The reality series most recently wrapped its thirteenth season in December.
