Another day, another Laguna Beach star in the headlines.

Fresh on the heels of yesterday's announcement that Talan Torriero and Kimberly Stewart are no longer engaged (the engagement lasted all of ten days) and two weeks after MTV announced that it has given Lauren Conrad her own The Hills reality show, UPN (like MTV, a Viacom network) announced today that Laguna teen Kristin Cavallari will co-host Get This Party Started, a new reality show that the network will premiere in January.
Sounding like a concept that would have been called Extreme Makeover: Party Edition if it was being produced by Extreme Makeover's Endemol production company, each episode of Get This Party Started will feature an elite team of Hollywood party planners working with a well-deserving person's friends and family to surprise them with a "very spectacular and extravagant event" held in their honor.
Get This Party Started's team will be led by Lara Shriftman, a special events coordinator who serves as co-president of Harrison & Shriftman, a prestigious publicity, special events and marketing company that has offices in New York, Los Angeles and Miami. Joining 18-year-old Kristin as Party's co-host will be Ethan Erickson, a 32-year-old former Extra correspondent who has also had recurring roles on Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Step By Step.
Working together with celebrity guests and the trendiest stylemakers, Get This Party Started's team will honor every type of life celebration, from birthdays to engagements and weddings and everything in between. However unlike the high-profile celebrities who can normally foot the bill for such extravagant bashes, Party will center around everyday people who have sacrificed for their loved ones, suffered a tragedy, or have some other type of Extreme Makeover-like tearjerking story to share with viewers.

UPN has placed an initial order for eight episodes of the hour-long series. Still in production, Get This Party Started is being executive produced by Allison Grodner and her new Allison Grodner Productions production company. While Party is scheduled to debut in January, UPN has not yet announced a premiere date for the series.
Although best known for teaming with Arnold Shapiro to executive produce CBS' long-running Big Brother, Grodner and Shapiro have teamed together on numerous other Shapiro/Grodner Productions reality series over the years, including The Family and Brat Camp for ABC, UPN's The Road To Stardom With Missy Elliott,, and Bravo and Situation: Comedy for Bravo. In October 2004 the two announced that although they would continue to work together on all their existing projects and commitments, they would also begin developing and producing their own solo projects.
