Former The Osbournes and upcoming Obsournes: Reloaded star Kelly Osbourne was reportedly arrested and charged with common assault earlier this month for allegedly slapping a woman at a London nightclub last August.

According to witnesses, the incident occurred when Osbourne allegedly slapped Zoe Griffin after the women ran into each other at the nightclub and Griffin -- a gossip columnist for city's Daily Mirror newspaper -- told Osbourne that her fiance Luke Worrall was stupid and "taunted" her with claims that he did not know what an earthquake was, the U.K.'s Daily Mail Reporter reported Monday.

London police confirmed they did arrest "a 24-year-old woman" after she voluntarily visited a police station to discuss the alleged assault on January 2, but (as is customary in the U.K.) wouldn't verify the 24-year-old Osbourne was the woman in question.

"'We can confirm a 24-year-old woman attended a central London police by appointment on [January 2]," a London police representative told the Daily Mail Reporter. "She was arrested for common assault relating to an alleged incident... in the early hours of [August 29 and] has been bailed until a date in March."

The "earthquake" comment that allegedly sparked the incident was a reference to an earlier gossip column item in which Griffin had reported that Worrall, a 19-year-old model, had asked his friends how earthquakes were caused -- a charge Osbourne denied.

Griffin had written about the alleged assault in a subsequent August 30 column, however according to her, Osbourne was the one that brought up the original "earthquake" gossip column item.

"I have an issue with you. My boyfriend knows what an earthquake is and everyone has been laughing at him and he's upset," Osbourne told Griffin, according to Griffin's August 30 column.

Osbourne then allegedly "clonked" the gossip columnist "hard enough to make my head swing back," according to Griffin.

Worrall and Osbourne revealed their engagement in November.

Osbournes: Reloaded -- a new variety show that will star Osbourne, her brother Jack Osbourne, her mother Sharon Osbourne, and her father Ozzy Osbourne -- is scheduled to premiere on Fox this spring.
