ABC has announced that Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, the home renovation spin-off of the network's successful Extreme Makeover program which premiered with a one-shot special in early December, will return to the ABC broadcast lineup as a weekly series beginning on Sunday, February 15 at 8-9 PM ET.

In the inaugural special that was broadcast on December 3, 2003, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was the first series on any network in three and a half years to beat an original episode of NBC's Law & Order among Adults 18-49.

In a race against time on a project that would ordinarily take four months to achieve, each self-contained show will feature a team of designers and a hundred workmen who have just seven days to totally renovate an entire house - every single room, plus the exterior and landscaping.

"We've been passionate for a long time about developing a show in this area," said Andrea Wong, senior vice president, Alternative Series and Specials for ABC. "We truly believe we have a home makeover show that delivers more suspense, drama and genuine emotion than any other out there."

"It's good to see a reality show with such a positive tone perform so well," said David Goldberg, President of Endemol USA. "We appreciate the network's strong support of the show and hope for continued success in our new Sunday night slot."

Each week, team leader Ty Pennington, the carpenter from TLC's Trading Spaces, along with five other designers, will give an unsuspecting family their surprise early morning wake-up call. The lives of the lucky families will be forever changed when they learn that they have been selected to have their home walls moved, their floors replaced and even their façades radically changed. The result should be a decorator's delight... if it can be done in time.

Along with Ty Pennington, the other members of the design team that will work their creative magic on the home are Paul DiMeo, Tracy Hutson, Michael Moloney, Constance Ramos and Preston Sharp. To get the job done, they're going to have to cooperate with each other -- a hard thing to do when they don't always even like each other. Tensions flare as tastes are disputed and the deadline approaches... can they get the job done?

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is produced by Endemol USA, a division of Endemol Holding. David Goldberg is President of Endemol USA. The series is executive produced by Tom Forman.
