The sister of Anna Nicole Smith, in an interview in New York, said she was proud that Smith had "made something of herself."
"It still isn't real to me," Donna Hogan said of Smith's death during an interview with "Inside Edition."
Smith, 39, a reality TV star and former model, died in a hospital after being found unresponsive in a hotel room at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. A preliminary autopsy was inconclusive about a cause of death.
Donna Hogan, regretful that she hadn't seen Smith in some time, said that while she was happy for Smith's success, she did not approve of her sister's lifestyle.
"I was always afraid of all the drugs. I was afraid she was going to overdose," she said in the interview that aired Friday.
But Smith's obsession with Marilyn Monroe concerned Hogan.
"Marilyn was remembered for being beautiful and that was what my sister wanted," she said. "I guess she didn't want to grow old and feel old."
Hogan said she hoped her sister wouldn't be remembered for the "crazy stuff" that was reported.
"I want (people) to remember her for being full of life," she said.
