Alton Brown taping his final 'Good Eats' episode after 13 seasons

Alton Brown says he is leaving his Food Network series "Good Eats" with a solid body of work and a paper mache chicken.

The Atlanta-based television chef will tape the final "Good Eats" next week, bringing the series to a close after 13 seasons and 250 episodes.

"I feel after 250 I can walk away from that library of work and feel good about it," Brown told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "We wanted to make sure they (episodes) were dense, juicy and succulent and last a long time."

Brown said he planned to keep a few mementos from the set of "Good Eats," including the ubiquitous chicken statuette that resided on his counter.

The newspaper said Brown would not be riding off into the sunset. He recently signed a 3-year extension with Food Network and has a new cook book coming out next month.
