Two ABC-described "epic casting calls" will be held to determine a group of finalists, who will attend the show's "summer music program."  Once there, the finalists will hone their skills and compete against one another in various challenges in an effort to avoid elimination.

High School Musical: Summer Session's grand-prize winner will "receive the opportunity of a lifetime, becoming a part of the High School Musical family," according to ABC, which has yet to reveal the prize's details.

High School Musical: Summer Session casting calls will be held at both Orlando, FL's Walt Disney World Resort on May 7 and in Southern California -- the date and exact location of which has yet to be announced.  Both auditions will be a broadcast in early episodes of the show.

In addition to the open auditions, High School Musical: Summer Session casting scouts will be searching the country for "unknown talent" they think deserve a chance to try out for the show.  The casting scouts will then select individuals to be brought to the final auditions.

A panel yet-to-be-named judges will then determine which contestants become finalists.

Interested applicants must be between 16 to 22-years-old -- which obviously goes well past the age of most high school students -- and those under 18 must bring a parent or legal guardian.  Additional information is available via ABC's website.
