Emmanuelle Riva Brief Biography

Emmanuelle Riva (born 24 February 1927) is a French actress, best known for her roles in the films Hiroshima mon amour (1959), and Amour (2012). In 2013, Riva won the BAFTA Award and the Cesar Award for her role in Michael Haneke's Amour as Anne Laurent, and was nominated for an Academy Award for the same role. She is the oldest actress ever to have been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress. She had previously been nominated for a BAFTA Award in 1960 for her role in Hiroshima mon amour and won Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival in 1962 for Thérèse Desqueyroux.
