Brooks Wheelan is an American stand-up comedian, who joins the cast of Saturday Night Live for its thirty-ninth season which begins on September 28, 2013. He is originally from Manchester, Iowa, and graduated from the University of Iowa in 2009 with a biomedical engineering degree
In August 2013, it was reported that Wheelan was hired as a writer for the show, while it was reported in September 2013 that Wheelan would also be joining the cast as a featured player. Prior to this, Wheelan worked as a stand-up comedian in Los Angeles. He started out performing stand-up comedy in his late teens in Iowa, before eventually moving to Los Angeles to study improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and work as a contributing writer at CollegeHumor.
