American Pastoral is a 2016 American crime-drama film directed by Ewan McGregor, making his directorial debut, and written by John Romano, based on the 1997 novel of the same name by Philip Roth. The film stars McGregor, Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Connelly, Rupert Evans and Valorie Curry.
Principal photography began on September 21, 2015 in Pittsburgh and it premiered on September 9, 2016 at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival. The film is set to be released in the United States on October 21, 2016.
