Board certified in family practice medicine, Deitrich graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine after earning a biology degree with highest honors from Penn State. British Version Of 'Temptation Island' Being Planned

Sky One and Channel 4 are planning to show a UK version of the controversial US reality TV show Temptation Island. A Sky One spokesman said that they are going ahead with the 12 part (that's double the original length of the US version) series but have not agreed the details.

A Channel 4 spokesman confirmed that they have "acquired the US version for broadcast and will show the version Sky One are making". Sky One are looking at a variety of locations - including Belize, the Seychelles and the British Virgin Islands - but nothing is as yet confirmed.

Channel 4 will not have editorial control over the show and will broadcast it only after Sky One does.

"Ytossie Patterson and Taheed Watson claim defamation of character. They want unspecified punitive and compensatory damages. Patterson and Watson were kicked off when it was revealed they had a two-year-old child -- a fact they allegedly hid from producers."

"But the couple claim producers always knew they had a child --but decided it would boost ratings if the fact was revealed during an episode. They also claim an episode in which producers chastised the two for the alleged revelations was 'condescending and humiliating.'"

Temptation Island Finale The Highest Rated Program Of The Night

The final episode of "Temptation Island," pulled in 17.3 million viewers.

Those numbers made it the highest rated program of the night in Adults 18-49, pulling a 9.4/21, and Adults 18-34 (12.6/30), according to Nielsen fast national ratings.

Since its premiere, "Temptation Island" has more than doubled FOX's prior 00/01 season average in the time period; "Temptation" has averaged 16.6 million from 1/10-2/28, compared to the 7.6 million total viewers season average before the show from 10/2/00-1/3/01.

- Yes, the rumors are true, Mandy was an extra on the movie Road Trip. That's where she was "discovered" and asked to audition for Temptation Island.

- Mandy has turned down $1,500,000 to pose in Playboy. (funny, unless she's holding out for more $$$, Mandy isn't the type that we'd have expected to have a problem with posing in Playboy)

- Mandy turned down a record deal with Capitol because they wanted to turn her into another Britney Spears. (hey, what's wrong with Britney? ...so instead Mandy has apparently chosen to go with the Christina Aguilera-corn-row-braids-look instead)"

FOX To Make Decision On 'Temptation Island' Sequel Soon

Fox television executives said on Tuesday the jury is still out on a possible sequel to the libido-fueled 'reality' hit 'Temptation Island.'

"Network brass said they will wait until viewership numbers are in from the seventh and final episode Wednesday before deciding whether to order a second block of the controversial series, which entices unmarried couples to break up their relationships."

"'We are considering a second Temptation Island seriously. We are waiting to see the numbers for Wednesday night, and a final decision will be made,' said Fox Entertainment President Gail Berman."

"Last week, the show's viewership suffered against competition from the Grammy Awards telecast on CBS, falling to its lowest ratings since its Jan. 10 premiere. But the show's fourth episode, two weeks earlier, drew a robust 18.2 million viewers, giving Fox its first overall ratings win for Wednesdays since August 1999. The segment also propelled Fox to its best Wednesday showing in more than six years among viewers aged 18 to 49, the demographic most prized by advertisers. Berman declined to say how well the show's finale had to perform in the ratings in order to win a renewal."

"But Sandy Grushow, chairman of the Fox Television Entertainment Group, a unit of Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. Ltd., suggested Fox executives are rooting for the series."

"'It's a show that's going to make a substantial amount of money,' he said. 'Our affiliates absolutely loved the show, and they're waiting for Temptation 2,' he said."

Our take on the situation -- money talks and morals walk -- expect production on TI2 to begin within weeks.

Mandy To Appear On Howard Stern Show

For all you Mandy fans, Jemod was nice enough to pass along that apparently Mandy is scheduled to appear on the Howard Stern Show sometime this week (sorry, that's all the specifics we know). Yikes, Mandy and Howard -- now THERE IS A COUPLE!!! ...here's hoping the appearance makes the nightly E! television show, or maybe the weekly syndicated show

UPDATE 2/27: This morning Howard announced that Mandy will be on the Wednesday, 2/28 radio show. He also claimed to be "very anxious to meet her." Thanks again to Jemod for the update.

Mandy Appears On Leno -- Claims Billy Living In LA???

During the close of Shannon, Mandy (wearing 10 inch platform boots and a Tony-Braxton-at-the-Grammy's-like leather dress)and Kaya's joint appearance on Jay Leno's Tonight Show Thursday night, Mandy claimed that while viewers would have to tune in next week to learn whether she and Billy stayed together, she is now living in Atlanta while he has since moved to Los Angelos.

Personally, we're treating this comment as a red herring of sorts -- we've received FAR, FAR, too many reports of Mandy and Billy working together at the Longhorn steakhouse in East Marietta, GA or shopping together at the North Point Mall to believe he's moved to LA -- unless it's been in the past two weeks or so.

For now, we're sticking by our prediction that these two remain together.

Mandy, Shannon, And Kaya To Appear On Leno's 'Tonight Show' On 2/22/2001

According to NBC promos that began running this evening, Mandy, Shannon, And Kaya will be appearing on Jay Leno's Tonight Show on Thursday, February 22, 2001.

The interesting note here is that during the course of verifying this appearance, we checked the official TVGuide.com listings for the show and they have it described as "MTV's Carson Daly, women from "Temptation Island." Music guest 3 Doors Down."

...either Kaya is now a woman, TV Guide got it wrong, or Valerie cancelled and Kaya is substituting for her. ...frankly, if she's as much "fun" in person as she has been on the show, then we should all be thankful we'll be seeing KAya instead :-)

Taheed Lands TV Guest Star Appearance

TV Guide is reporting that Taheed has landed an acting gig as a crack house dweller on the syndicated series, "Arrest & Trial". His episode, titled "Ruthless Ricky," airs Feb. 19. Meanwhile, the fifth episode of Temptation on Wednesday night attracted 17 million viewers, just behind timeslot competitor The West Wing (18.2 million viewers). However, among adults age 18-49, Fox's guilty pleasure trounced NBC's White House drama.

Episode 6 Bumped For Barbra Streisand Special -- To Air 2/14/2001

Just a note that yes, there will be no episode of Temptation Island airing next week -- FOX has scheduled a Barbra Streisand special (what the???) for Monday, February 14th to air instead of the highly-anticipated 6th episode of the series.

Even stranger than the decision to pull the powerhouse show from their lineup is FOX's decision to suddenly air this dusty, old performance NOW -- the performance is a filming of her 1999 New Year's Eve concert, taped in Las Vegas.

Temptation Island Extended To Additional 7th Episode

Fox has extended the six-episode run of "Temptation Island" by one additional episode to air on Feb. 28, the last night of the February sweeps period.

The series was originally scheduled to wrap on Feb. 21. The extra episode will feature a reunion of the residents and series highlights. The one-hour finale will reveal whether the featured couples will stay together.

Readers Report: Mandy & Billy Still Together

Well, we've been receiving a number of reports over the past couple of weeks that Billy and Mandy are still together, so we figure we've probably received enough of them now that they are likely true and it's time to go public with them -- as of this moment, we're predicting, somehow, someway, Miss Crybaby and Mr. Toughguy will remain together. Excerpts from a couple of the emails we've received are below:

On 2/3:

"Well these two are still hanging out together. We just had dinner at Longhorn in East Marietta, GA and they are both waiting tables there and seem pretty happy."

On 1/28:

"I live in Atlanta and last Saturday night went to a club called the Velvet Room. I saw Billy and Mandy there, and they were clearly still together. I don't have any proof or anything, but they weren't being very discreet about anything so I'd say this is already public knowledge.

Mystery Over Heather's Departure Builds, Likely Kaya-Related Despite Host's Claims

In an interview with her hometown newspaper yesterday, Heather Perry revealed that despite host Mark L. Warburg's claims at the time of the announcement of Heather's departure during episode 3 that it "had nothing to do with Kaya", her decision to leave did in fact have something to do with her date with Kaya.

Though she insists she can't reveal anymore until the 6th and final episode of the series has ended, she says "My particular story is probably their main story for the entire show," Perry said. "I�m the one that came off the island with a really, really strange story." "Legally, I can�t explain," she said.

The exact details of what happened on her date with Kaya that caused her to want to leave the show -- and whether or not it's possibly related to the earlier rumor we reported in which it's said she left the show after learning of Ytossie and Taheed's child (perhaps Kaya revealed this little nugget during their date) -- remains unclear for now.

Little is know of her date with Kaya, audiences saw little of Perry�s date with Kaya. In one clip, Kaya
complained that good conversations with Perry were "few and far between." The feeling was mutual, Perry said during the interview. On their date, she said, Kaya was more interested in talking to outsiders who recognized them from the show. (no, he's not in it for the publicity :-)

"It was good fun and stuff," she said. "From a moral standpoint, I didn�t agree with what was happening."

TI Not Tempting Enough To Knock Off New 'West Wing' Episode

Fox's "Temptation Island" continued to entice viewers with its third episode on Wednesday, although its small week-to-week declines suggest that it may not be a "Survivor"-like wildfire hit after all.

According to Nielsen, Wednesday's episode of the six-week reality series won its hour by 6 shares in adults 18-49 and by 19 shares in adults 18-34, while placing second to NBC's "The West Wing" in total viewers. It combined with another strong, though not as dominant, performance from rookie laffer "Grounded for Life" to give Fox its third straight Wednesday victory in 18-49.

"Temptation" (16.83 million viewers, 8.8/21 in adults 18-49) was down vs. its second episode by 5% in viewers and by 8% in adults 18-49, but up slightly vs. its strong premiere numbers of two weeks ago (16.1m, 8.3/19). A key factor in its drop this week is that timeslot foe "West Wing," fresh off a Golden Globe victory on Sunday, was airing an original episode after
being in repeat the previous week.

Single Girl Heather Rumored To Have Left Due To Couple With Child

Those who watched tonight's 3rd episode saw it mysteriously revealed that Heather, one of the single girls, opted to suddenly leave the show shortly after returning from her date with Kaya. This resulted in the Couple Men not having to decide on which girl to eject, much to their relief. What was left mysteriously unclear however, was WHY she suddenly left.

Though we haven't found a print or online news report of it yet, we've heard from a couple of different sources that Heather left after learning that Ytossie and Taheed had a child, insisting that she didn't want to be part of anything involving the potential breakup of a family. If true, its possible this might be a trigger for the departure next week of the couple, and a good reason for the producers to not have mentioned it this week.

This idea is also supported by recent comments Heather has made in print, including: "The show really was a lot of fun, even with all the hype going on now, I wasn't really worried about what people might think of me [being a single], because my friends and family know I have a strong sense of values."

Temptation Island Now Outrating Early Survivor I Episodes

Fox got a little Survivor-style growth out of its second episode of Temptation Island, blowing away NBC's 'The West Wing' rerun, confirming that the show's a hit and suggesting it might be turning into prime time's next phenomenon.

Last night's Temptation Island results are up 16 percent among adults 18-49 over the impressive premiere numbers of a week earlier, and that's not too far off of the 23 percent week-two growth CBS got last June from Survivor.

FOX Bows To Pressure, Agrees To Limit Tempation Island Promos

FOX promised on Thursday to cease promotions of 'Temptation Island' during such family-oriented fare as 'The Simpsons' and 'Malcolm in the Middle.'

In a letter Wednesday citing numerous complaints from parents, a member of the Federal Communications Commission urged media magnate Rupert Murdoch -- whose News Corp. Ltd. owns Fox Entertainment -- to stop promoting the adult-themed show when children might be watching.

Robert Quicksilver, president of network distribution for Fox, responded by saying that he had directed Fox's marketing department had been directed to 'withdraw immediately and permanently' any promos for the show that were scheduled to appear on any of four Sunday night programs that air from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. -- 'The Simpsons,' 'Malcolm in the Middle,' 'Futurama' and 'King of the Hill.'

Temptation Island Premiere Draws Over 16 Million Viewers

``Temptation Island,'' which features scantily clad singles working hard to tempt couples to stray from their mates, averaged 16.1 million viewers overall and a household rating of 10.5, compared with 17.7 million viewers and a 12.0 rating for ``West Wing.''

But ``Temptation'' -- filmed on a Caribbean island off Belize -- carried the hour among the coveted young adult viewers, scoring a healthy rating of 8.3 in the 18-49 demographic, against a 6.3 rating in that demographic for ``West Wing.''

In terms of total viewers and ratings for young adults, the ''Temptation Island'' debut marked the strongest Wednesday night series premiere ever for Fox. ``It did pretty good numbers,'' said Stacy Lynne Koerner, an analyst with T.N. Media, which buys network time on behalf of advertisers. She admitted she found the show ``personally repugnant.''

Interestingly, ``Temptation Island'' got off to a stronger start than the first episode of ``Survivor'' in all key Nielsen measures. ...god help us if this is a sign of things to come.

One Of The Four Couples Has Secret Child And Gets Booted!

Fox admitted Tuesday that one of the couples featured on the sexy reality show were booted off after producers discovered the two had a child together. Network executives declined to comment on which of the show's couples were, in truth, parents. Sources say the couple's secret is acknowledged on camera at some point during the show's six-episode run. Fox previously said that no couples who had had children together participated in the show; execs gave no hint of the controversy at a press conference Sunday.

In a statement, Fox said producer Rocket Science Laboratories discovered during taping that one of the couples had covered up that they were parents. The network said couples were subject to several background checks during the initial vetting process for show eligibility in a process that included investigative consultants hired by Rocket Science.

Wow, those must be some ACE investigators if this mystery pair managed to hide the existence OF AN ENTIRE HUMAN BEING!!! ...my money is on the couple that's been together 5 years.

Watchdog Groups Blast Temptation Island

Temptation Island, which has 26 attractive men and women testing the fidelity of four unmarried couples, is being blasted as an "assault on marriage" by Rabbi Kenneth Roseman of Dallas, according to the Associated Press. "The idea that it is sport and amusement to see if one can destroy a relationship for the purpose of securing ratings and profit is just unacceptable," said Roseman, who is demanding that Fox pull the show off the air.

Meanwhile, the American Family Association, a coservative watchdog group based in Tupelo, MS, is asking visitors to its Web site to contact Fox and urge it to "give America something worth watching," the AP reports. Another group, the Los Angeles-based Parents Television Council, calls the network "shameless." Chairman L. Brent Bozell said, "It is not just a potentially dangerous show because of its message, but coming from Fox it's pretty much guaranteed to be
offensive," he told the AP.

'Temptation Island' is not a show about sex.

That was the assertion made by FOX chairman Sandy Grushow Sunday when meeting reporters during the annual Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour in Pasadena, CA.

"This is a show that endeavors to explore the dynamics of people in serious relationships. These are people who very much were interested in exploring the strength of their own relationships," Grushow said of the four unmarried couples who take part in the show. "It's not a show that's about sex."

Temptation Island," has received criticism from numerous groups because of its sexy promos which promise a stay on the island "could rip two people apart." In addition, the network has provided little information to critics, with the first episode becoming available Sunday for review.
