Despite arriving on Survivor: Gabon as one of the competition's underdogs, Ken "Kenny" Hoang was almost able to parlay numerous bold gameplay tactics into a surprise victory for the 22-year-old professional video gamer from Westminster, CA.
Robert "Bob" Crowley hardly seemed like the favorite to "outwit, outlast and outplay" his seventeen fellow Survivor: Gabon castaways when the reality competition began. In fact, the 57-year-old physics teacher from South Portland, ME, commanded so little attention during Survivor: Gabon's early rounds that he was known more for his lengthy naps than his gameplay.
Robert "Bob" Crowley became the oldest winner in Survivor history last night when he was revealed to be the winner of Survivor: Gabon during the finale of the long-running CBS reality series' seventeenth edition.
For Corinne Kaplan, a 29-year-old pharmaceutical sales representative from Los Angeles, CA, it was clearly evident that desperate times called for desperate measures.
If Randy Bailey, a 49-year-old videographer from Eagle Rock, MO, did nothing else, he made his exit from Survivor: Gabon a memorable one. After making it through 30 days in Gabon, Bailey had seemed to find a way to adapt his prickly personality to the game and find success.
After 30 days of causing general drama -- both intentionally and not -- to his tribemates, a gaffe by Randy Bailey, a 49-year-old videographer from Eagle Rock, MO, and another castaway's desire to make a fool of him led to his becoming the eleventh castaway eliminated from Survivor: Gabon during last night's broadcast on CBS.
Charlie Herschel, a 29-year-old lawyer from New York, NY, had no idea he was going home. After making it through the first eight episodes of Survivor: Gabon with only brief moments of drama as a member of the season's previously dominant "onion alliance," Charlie thought he was in pretty good shape heading into the competition's stretch run.
Only days after the elimination of his closest ally by a blindside vote, Charlie Herschel, a 29-year-old lawyer from New York, NY, fell victim to the same fate and became the tenth castaway eliminated from Survivor: Gabon during last night's broadcast on CBS.
"This is a disaster. I 100% did not see this coming, but what can you do at this point," Charlie said following his elimination. "I didn't think [I would] make it past the first [Tribal Council], so to make it this far is amazing. If I'm gonna leave Survivor I'm glad it was a blindside. I'm thankful [Marcus Lehman] is in the jury though, that is my saving grace."
