Will Keen Biography

Will Keen (born 4 March 1970) is an English actor. He is also a trustee of the James Menzies Kitchen Award, an award set up for young theatre directors in memory of the director with whom Keen collaborated early in his career. He has been nominated for a number of theatre awards and in 2008 was longlisted for an Evening Standard Theatre Award for his performance in Waste at the Almeida.

Keen studied at Eton College and has a degree in English from Oxford University where he was a contemporary of Eve Best. He is married to the Spanish actress, theatre director and writer Maria Fernandez Ache with whom he has a daughter.

Keen has worked extensively in the English and Spanish theatre. Some of his notable credits being: 'Hui Clos' (Trafalgar Studios), 'Traicion' [Betrayal] (Teatro Español), 'Macbeth' (Cheek By Jowl), Waste, Tom & Viv, Five Gold Rings (Almeida Theatre), Romeo and Juliet (Middle Temple), The Arsonists (Royal Court Theatre), Kiss of the Spider Woman (Donmar Warehouse), The Changeling (Cheek by Jowl), The Rubenstein Kiss (Hampstead Theatre), Don Juan, Man and Superman (Theatre Royal, Bath), Pericles (Lyric Hammersmith), The Duchess of Malfi, The Coast of Utopia, Hove (National Theatre), The Prince of Hambourg (Royal Shakespeare Company), The Two Noble Kinsmen, The Tempest, Dido Queen of Carthage (Shakespeare's Globe) and Elton John's Glasses (West End).

His TV credits include Holby City, The Bill, The Impressionists, The Wire, Casualty 1907, Elisabeth, and The Colour of Magic. His film credits include Nine Lives of Tomas Katz and Love and Other Disasters. In the musical field, he has recorded the "Seven Scenes from Hamlet" by the Spanish composer Benet Casablancas, in collaboration with the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, conducted by José Ramón Encinar (Stradivarius, 2010).
