The Secret of Dr. Kildare is a 1939 American film directed by Harold S. Bucquet. This was the fourth of a total of ten Dr. Kildare pictures, Lew Ayres starred in the last nine.

Plot summary

Dr. Gillespie (Lionel Barrymore) is seeking a permanent cure for pneumonia with a Sulfa drug, Sulfapyridine, and must ask Dr. Kildare (Lew Ayres) for assistance when his cancer tires him out and eventually collapses him. Dr. Gillespie recovers, while Dr. Kildare continues working on the pneumonia cure and the case of a woman, Nancy Messenger (Helen Gilbert) suffering from psychosomatic blindness.
