Aleksander Chekov

Aleksander Chekov Biography

Aleksander Chekov () also known as Aleksandr Chekov, or Aleksander Chekhov, is a Russian professional wrestler. He currently wrestles on the independent circuit throughout the Southeastern United States as well as New England and Puerto Rico as one half of the "Red Devil Fight Team" tag team with Mikhail Ivanov.

Professional wrestling career

Independent promotions (2002-present)

Chekov began training under the guidance of Ken "Legion Cage" Banks in Maine for Rampage Pro Wrestling. He then began training with "Brutal" Bob Evans, Mikhail Ivanov and Chris Venom in Massachusetts for Slamtech in the spring of 2002. He wrestled under the name Alex Chamberlain given to him by Chris Venom, as it was easier to work with than his given name without being typecast right away. He wrestled throughout all of New England traveling weekends working for such companies as New England Championship Wrestling, Northeast Championship Wrestling, Top Rope Promotions, Ringside Wrestling and Eastern Pro Wrestling. Chekov traveled from Maine to Rhode Island to train at Evans' school while attending college. Chekov relocated to Florida with Ivanov in early 2008 to expand out to different areas to wrestle and to train under "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka, Soulman Alex G, Bruno Sassi and "Primetime"? Daryl D. Chekov used the Chamberlain name regularly before deciding to drop the moniker and use his birth name to join up with Ivanov in 2009.

SLAM! All Star Wrestling (2003-2007)

Chekov made his debut in wrestling under the Chamberlain name in Swanton, VT. on July 26, 2003; He lost his first match to "Brother" Bubba Franklin. After a strong showing, he would become a mainstay in SLAM! All Star Wrestling. Chekov was involved in a heated feud with the SLAM! All Star Wrestling Television Champion, Drake Evans, in what became the company's most popular storyline well into 2004. After a near 2 year feud, Chekov won his first professional wrestling championship when he defeated Evans in a 2 out of 3 falls match for the SLAM! Television Championship. It was Chekov's first Professional Wrestling championship.

North Atlantic wrestling Association (2003-2008)

Chekov debuted and wrestled on nearly every event for the newly formed North Atlantic Wrestling Association in the fall of 2003. As Alex Chamberlain, he was one half of "The Glamour Shots" a 'male model' tag team, with Cameron Matthews. They captured the N.A.W.A. Tag Team Championships on December 29, 2005 in Old Town, ME. They would end up dropping the titles to Bullmoose Calhoun and Hardware on February 23, 2006, after a series of back and forth battles. After wards, Chekov would make the move into singles wrestling. He would chase Luke Robinson throughout the majority of 2006 for the N.A.W.A. Heavyweight Title in an extremely personal feud, both professionally and personally. After a series of some of the toughest matches in his career, he defeated Robinson on September 28, 2006 in Old Town, ME. to capture his first Heavyweight Championship.

Coastal Championship Wrestling (2008-present)

Chekov relocated to South Florida in February 2008, along with Ivanov, to further his experience in a new area. He began training at Bodyslam University under Jimmy Snuka, Soulman Alex G, Bruno Sassi, and "Primetime" Darryl D. He then began working regularly for Coastal Championship Wrestling, working mostly in an under-card role in 6-man tag team matches. He would then begin a very short lived feud with Anthony Michaels. With little success in singles, Chekov would drop the 'Alex Chamberlain' character, take on his birth name, and pair up with Ivanov. They would then form the "Red Devil Fight Team" tag team.

Red Devil Fight Team (2009-present)

Ivanov and Chekov put together the Red Devil Fight Team after an invitation to meet with TNA Wrestling at a TV taping in Orlando, FL. in the spring of 2009. They formed the idea from the International Tag Team tournament featuring tag teams from several different countries in the world. The very first live appearance for the Red Devil Fight Team would be in Fall River, MA. for Top Rope Promotions on September 18, 2009, where they would lose to the team of Matt Taven and Jimmy Preston. The following night on September 19, 2009 would be their in ring debut for New England Championship Wrestling in Quincy, MA. where they took part in the Inaugural Tag Team Classic tournament event. They would make it to the finals of the tournament, which was won by the team of Don Vega and Ryan Bisbal of Puerto Rico. They would continue to wrestle in South Florida for Coastal Championship Wrestling, as well as National Wrestling Council out of North Miami Beach, FL., where they would hold the Tag Team Championships on one occasion. Recently, they have begun working for Future Of Wrestling, as well as Victory Wrestling Association in Tampa, FL. They are the former Coastal Championship Wrestling Tag Team Champions, having defeated JT Flash and JB Cool on June 19, 2010 in Coral Springs, FL. They have defended the championships against the likes of Mosh of the Headbangers, and Phi Delta Slam of TNA, and have recently been involved in a feud with The Headbangers.

Personal life

Unlike a lot of friend/brother tag teams in professional wrestling, Ivanov and Chekov are actual lifelong friends, having met in childhood and moved to United States from Russia around the same time as each other. Chekov was a High School assistant wrestling coach in Maine while attending college, having helped coach Old Town High School's heavyweights to 2nd place in the Maine State Championships in 2005.
