Tom DeLonge has been named UFO Researcher of the Year by UFO website and YouTube channel Open Minds TV.
The former Blink-182 singer and guitarist accepted the award at the 2017 International UFO Congress where he delivered his acceptance speech through a video as he was unable to attend the conference the New York Daily News reports.
"Thank you for acknowledging some of the hard work I've been putting in to some subject matter that concerns us all and that you're passionate about, just like I," DeLonge says in the clip released by Open Minds TV alongside a featurette exploring DeLonge's research into the subject.
"It's been a crazy whirlwind of a year or two. There's a lot that I can't say but some that I can. I'm so appreciative that I've been acknowledged for this stuff but I'm not done. I'm just like you guys. I spent 20 years up all night, reading about Roswell, Dulce, Serpo, Churchill, the crashes here, Nazis building craft there, Antarctica, what's on Mars, what's on the back of the moon, anomalous structures. I mean, I've done it all. I know it all," he continued before he began teasing an upcoming announcement he has planned centered around UFOs and the releasing of information regarding alien life.
"I want you all to know in the UFO community, whoever's passionate about this paradigm-shifting subject matter, I need you all to look really, really closely at that announcement and I need you to be a part of it," he said also adding, that the announcement "is about is so much more than what it will look like on the surface."
During Wikileaks dumping of Hillary Clinton's campaign emails, it was unveiled that DeLonge had been sharing a correspondence with Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta regarding the existence of UFOs.
DeLonge left Blink-182 in 2015 in order to focus on non-musical projects such as Sekret Machines, a multimedia project that has lead to the release of a book on UFOs and aliens.
He is also working on a documentary around the subject that Podesta is set to appear in.
