The Voice has crowned Maelyn Jarmon its Season 16 champion over three male finalists from The Voice coach Blake Shelton's team on Tuesday night.

Maelyn, a 26-year-old from Frisco, TX who was a member of The Voice coach John Legend's team, was declared the winner of The Voice's sixteenth season during the live two-hour finale broadcast on NBC.

"I had no expectations coming into this, so to be standing here, I owe it to everyone who voted and streamed my songs -- I do this for you!" Maelyn said after The Voice host Carson Daly announced her victory.

"And I'm so grateful. I'm grateful to John for believing in me and being the best coach possible. I knew we would work well together and we did. And I'm so grateful to everybody in the crew on NBC's The Voice. It's been absolutely amazing."

This marked John's first season as a coach, and so he will definitely have bragging rights going forward considering a member of his team won the show.

Blake's team had an incredible showing on The Voice this season, but Maelyn ultimately stole the crown.

Gyth Rigdon, a 25-year-old from Singer, LA, finished in second place, while Dexter Roberts, a 27-year-old from Fayette, AL, placed third.

And finally, Andrew Sevener, a 22-year-old from Alvarado, TX, claimed fourth place in the finale.

Maelyn's big win was determined by the home viewer votes that had poured in following Monday night's Top 4 performance show in which each finalist took the stage three times with a cover, a duet with his or her coach, and a brand-new original single.

Maelyn delivered exceptional performances over this week's two-night finale event, but the powerhouse vocalist's catchy original song "Wait For You" probably gave her the edge when it came to America's voting.

Maelyn also closed Monday night's show with a jaw-dropping rendition of "Hallelujah" by Leonard Cohen.

Even coach Adam Levine -- whose entire team had been knocked out earlier in the competition -- gave his unbiased perspective on Monday night's show and admitted Maelyn deserved to win Season 16.

"I do believe everyone in this finale is fantastic, but I also believe you are the person that should be winning this thing. I really do," Adam told the artist, later calling her "an angel from heaven" when she sings.

Gyth, however, was the only person in the finale who wrote his or her own original song -- which might have given him a leg up on Dexter and Andrew. Gyth's new single is called "Proof I've Always Loved You," and Carson dubbed the tune "deeply personal" to the country singer.

Neither Adam or fellow coach Kelly Clarkson were represented in The Voice finale.

Prior to the night's final results, Sarah McLachlan performed a duet of "Angel" with Maelyn, Toby Keith sang a duet of his new single "That's Country Bro" with Dexter, Hootie and the Blowfish performed "Hold My Hand" with Gyth, and Travis Tritt sang a duet of "T-R-O-U-B-L-E" with Andrew.

More famous artists who performed in the finale included The Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, BTS, Halsey, Khalid, and One Republic.
